Paradise found

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 June 2009
We spent 5 nights in Pacific Resort Aitutaki.

From the moment we arrived at Aitutaki airport, our stay at Pacific Resort was delightful. We were treated with courtesy and genuine friendliness for our entire time there by all the staff.

Everything was pure luxury from the excellent quality and variety of food (wonderful breakfast), the clean, absolutely private and beautiful bungalow (with Bulgari toiletries), to the cocktails delivered poolside. Staff made hiring a scooter, booking a restaurant etc easy - nothing was a problem. The pool and poolside area was delightful.

There are plenty of activities - kayaking, snorkelling, relaxing by the pool or beach on a sun lounger, drinking cocktails. We also walked up to the island's high point (recommend it), and rode around the island on a scooter. Also kayaked around on the main lagoon.

Pacific resort Aitutaki, thank you - we'll be back!

We stayed at the Pacific resort in Aitutaki for 5 days after a stay in Rarotonga and ( apart for the rain) we couldnt ask for a better holiday.
From the moment we arrived at the airport to the time we were personally farwelled by friendly manager Michael Shah we were treated to a holiday beyond our expectations.
All the bungalos have a perfect position overlooking the lagoon yet all feel private and secluded. The restaurant and pool bar are beautiful with delicious food.
I think the outstanding reature of the hotel is the wonderful staff - they were always friendly, extremely helpful and keen to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable,
We will defiantely go back!

We went to Aitutaki as part of our Honeymoon trip and the resort and island exceeded our expectations. You are greeted personally from the flight with a lei and taken to your own booth in the airport so you immediately feel pretty special! You are then taken to the resort and greeted by the manager Michael Shah who has a certain presence in and around the resort giving a friendly and open feel to the Pacific. The rooms are perfectly placed and kept immaculate by the staff. Not a person will pass you by without greeting you with a smile and all are on hand to help should you have any queries or simply seek advice about the best lagoon cruise to take or where to find the local store etc. Our stay here was lovely in spite of one day of rain (unheard of at this time of year!) and we would definitely recommend anyone looking for paradise not only to go to this island but to stay at Michael Shah's own paradise. He will even be there at your departure to wish you well. It was worth our 24hr journey...Thank you Pacific Aitutaki.

We have been lucky enough to have stayed in many very nice resorts/hotels in the world and this certainly is up there among the best we have been too. The buildings(Balinese style architecture) and natural pacific island coastal vegetation (palm trees etc) and the superb layout makes for a gorgeous envrionment. The resort is very private and unique due to its smallness. The west facing aspect with the setting sun on the horizon behind a beautiful lagoon with the sea breaking on the coral reef is a sight to die for ! (in season whales can be seen in the distance too we gather) The food is top class international cuisine, the staff discreet and lovely and the service faultless. Many there were honeymooning from Italy, Spain, UK, USA, NZ and Australia. We were celebrating 36 years of marriage ! The special things we enjoyed were the Island night buffet with amazing local dancing and music and the Fire Dancing evening on the beach. Aitutaki is a very small island with only 1200 residents many of whom grow crops and have a few chickens or pigs. We cycled around the island (38kms) and stopped and talked to the locals in their gardens or fields, had icecreams/cold drinks with them etc. They are delightful and all speak good English. The weather is always warm /hot ,but can be rainy (it's an island). The resort and the island are absolutely Pacific gems !

We stayed for 3 nights as part of our south pacific trip. It was our last stop in the pacific, and we wanted to leave the best for the last. Luckily we did.

All the bungalows have a beautiful location overlooking the lagoon, while having privacy. We stayed at a beach bungalow, the least expensive, and we do not regret it at all! we found that the water infront of the bungalows more beautiful and accessible than the villas, which had a rocky beach.

The staff was outstanding, calling you by your name, always willing to help. Everyday, they would leave a newsletter with tomorrow's activities, some info, and names of ppl arriving. They would also leave the special menu for the day. Even after a small misunderstanding, the GM was there and made sure we had a good time, offering us some complimentry services. We were just left speechless by the level of professionalism.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, the bathrooms were clean, with amentities, and mosquito repellent, which we didnt use at all. Everyone warned us about the mosquitoes in Aitutaki, however, we didnt find it bothering since the hotel takes some measures of spraying.

The ambience is very laid back, it was a great feeling becoz it isn't one of the mega resorts like in Tahiti, but at the same time, the level of service is outstanding. It's truly a unique place in this paradise.

A must: the lagoon tour, and we recommend the romantic dinner at the hotel.

Our stay at the beautiful Pacific Resort in Aitutaki in the Cook Islands was absolutely wonderful !! The staff was so courteous and smiling and helpful, the restaurant dining was delicious, the special shows such as the fire dance, and the native dancing were spectacular, the beach bar was very scenic and had excellent dining and drinks also !!
The suite we had was absolutely beautiful, with several outside decks for sitting or lounging and looking at the beautiful views of the gorgeous water ! Kayaks are right on the beach for guests' use and very easy to get in and out of the water. We stayed at several islands and this Pacific Resort was absolutely the best !
