We have been lucky enough to have stayed in many very nice resorts/hotels in the world and this certainly is up there among the best we have been too. The buildings(Balinese style architecture) and natural pacific island coastal vegetation (palm trees etc) and the superb layout makes for a gorgeous envrionment. The resort is very private and unique due to its smallness. The west facing aspect with the setting sun on the horizon behind a beautiful lagoon with the sea breaking on the coral reef is a sight to die for ! (in season whales can be seen in the distance too we gather) The food is top class international cuisine, the staff discreet and lovely and the service faultless. Many there were honeymooning from Italy, Spain, UK, USA, NZ and Australia. We were celebrating 36 years of marriage ! The special things we enjoyed were the Island night buffet with amazing local dancing and music and the Fire Dancing evening on the beach. Aitutaki is a very small island with only 1200 residents many of whom grow crops and have a few chickens or pigs. We cycled around the island (38kms) and stopped and talked to the locals in their gardens or fields, had icecreams/cold drinks with them etc. They are delightful and all speak good English. The weather is always warm /hot ,but can be rainy (it's an island). The resort and the island are absolutely Pacific gems !
