We arrived for lunch and asked for toasted sandwiches. We had beautiful turkey and ham. They were super thick and came with a few chips which were delicious.
I would have given this 5/5 but the waitress overcharged us £4.95 for sundries which we didn't have. When I pointed this out and the waitress was apologetic but we only ordered four items, tea x2 and sandwiches x2?

Bedroom overlooking the Lough was clean and comfortable & bathroom was adequate and also very clean.

Residents lounge was very small with limited seating and a bit drab ....

Restaurant is located in a lovely room also overlooking the Lough- breakfast was freshly cooked to order and tasty.

We also ate in the bar/bistro area which was basic to say the least. It was an uncomfortable area which was a thoroughfare between the entrance and the main bar. Food was average and uninspiring.

All in all, not a very memorable stay .....

Hi Pinkblackski, thankyou for reviewing our hotel.
Sorry we didn't meet your expectations.
Thanks for pointing out our rooms were clean, and bathroom was adequate....
As for the residents lounge, im not sure as to where you are referring.
This is the first review mentioning our bar/bistro area as being basic, not sure what you were expecting.
Generally customers reviews have been more positive, 4 to 5 stars, which would suggest our food being better than average.
Review reads like you may have been having a bad day

Thanks Cahal

We travelled to portaferry to visit the newly reopened aquarium and called at the Portaferry Arms for lunch and on the way in met the very charming Bill Nighy, there to make a film,I think called The Book Shop.We chatted for some time and then ordered lunch. The lunch was excellent ,served in the bar accompanied by pints of Guinness. After lunch back on the ferry heading for Strangford and exploring beautiful Co. Down.

We had an excellent lunch here. Lovely views of the Lough from the bar and parking is easy. Local seafood was excellent, I had the local crab salad, so fresh. Service was fairly quick and friendly. Would certainly recommend.

Room tip: Local crab salad was excellent.
