We stayed as a family with 2 children at Kastello in Nafplio, which is very centrally located in the city. Rooms are very nicely decorated and breakfast is really abundant - thank you Elleni for all advices and recommendations, we enjoyed staying with you

We stayed 2 nights at Kastello at Verde room. The room is exactly as seen at the hotel's web site, roomy for a family of four with 2 small children and well placed for Nafplio's exploration!Breakfast was really good for the money we payed-only 5 euro per person. The reception staff is really helpful and kind! The only disadvantage is the noise from the upper floor rooms..when someone walks you know it for sure!

Room Tip: upper floor rooms for less noise

You could not ask for a better location. You are on the doorstep of the shops, restaurants, beach, castle.... BUT there was a musky smell in the room, and the main entrance into the accommodation smelt awful. I was mentioning this to the staff, while my husband went up to collect something from the room and when he came back to reception, he mentioned it as well.... We were not sure if there is a general drainage problem in Nafplio. The room was lovely and big, excellent wi-fi! Staff and the welcome could not be faulted.... Just the smell..... Breakfast was excellent and there was loads of it!

The hotel Kastello is truly a gem. Its five individually decorated rooms boast with little, yet charming details that turn each room into a little piece of art. We had the Porpora suite with two large (30 square metres big) rooms, both of them with a highly sufficient air-conditioning. The bathroom was also very large with white marble elements and everything that one might need during a holiday stay. All in all we were absolutely charmed by the bed, the luxurious wooden floors, the location right at the entrance of the old town of Nafplio (pretty close to the KTEL-station), the price (80€ per night including the breakfast for two persons in September 2014) and the atmosphere in general.
The breakfast was for Greek circumstances unusually large and rich: different sorts of pitas and croissants, fresh bread, home-made jams (5 different tastes), all sorts of coffees and 6 different teas, freshly pressed orange juice and fresh bread to apply the jam upon. Lipsmacking.
The only 'negative' point was the next door café that started playing music 9.30 am, but that could be easily shielded off by closing the windows.

Room Tip: Chose the rooms that look at the little place on the long side of the hotel (Porpora, Azzuro).
