For some reason i felt at home, though with good breakfast and serice. I might be byased because i love Nafplio.
Pros: excellent and very eager staff, pleasant decoration (and 'original' enough), convenient location.
Cons: while the staff was excellent, the management is very bad and unprofessional. Also, very poor soundproofing, very uncomfortable mattresses, some maintenance needed (for aesthetic detail up-keeping, not functional issues)
the friendliest staff and the best atmosphere. I travelled there with a toddler and all our needs were met. I really loved those guys there!!!every day our room was cleaned and the beds were made. I had an extra cot for the baby. The tap water in Nafplion is not safe, so the staff made sure to bring lots of bottles for all of us. The view was terrific, it felt like home and a luxurious stay at the same time...definitely going to be there again soon
Two adults two children we took the attic which was spacious and very nice. Generally, the overall experience of the room was very good. The only issue is with the breakfast. We went downstairs and there were 2 slices of bread, no orange juice, etc, because there were no other clients. We complained and they took care of that. But why do I have to complain about the basic?
The reception is very helpful and friendly and the location is very nice as well.
Tip: avoid to buy things from the kiosk near the hotel, as the man there is rude and the snacks totally unknown!
The hotel is an old building, renovated, clean and the decoration is very nice.
We forgive lots of little imperfections in exchange for the charms of old-world hotels but there is too much to overlook here. The bones of the building are great--it won't take much to make it "Grande" again when someone decides to re-do it. It didn't help that we arrived in the rain and got chased around by the port police for parking in the wrong places. We eventually had to park 500 meters away--not the end of the world except that we were told we could park directly across the street. The person at reception was not very friendly and made no effort to help us as we struggled with our bags in the rain. Our room had a phenomenal view over the square and the water though it proved to be a negative when the partying at the restaurant below us continued into the next morning. The a/c was broken, but they did find us a small fan when we complained. The wi-fi is not very good, the furniture is outdated, and there is an unpleasant disinfectant smell everywhere. The bathroom, never mind, I don't want to talk about it. We had the place almost completely to ourselves--another reviewer mentioned "The Shining" which was funny but true. All this aside, Nafplio is stunning and I can't wait to go back one day.
We stayed here for 3 days in early September. Couldn't fault our room - it was huge, with a long balcony overlooking the sea and the main square - great for people-watching. Very comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom.
Breakfast was a let-down though - the choice was just too limited for such a smart hotel, with very little fresh fruit on offer and only machine coffee available (although to be fair it tasted fine.)
On the whole I'd recommend this hotel as a charming, old-fashioned and friendly place to stay - the staff were very helpful with arranging taxis etc....but you might want to go elsewhere for breakfast....
