This is a family run, older hotel with older fixtures and recently updated bathrooms. The view from the restaurant seemed to cover all of Germany and is not to be missed. My husband loved it, he felt like he was in the "real" Germany. The hotel decor was pure 1980's, green slate floors, no elevator, an inoperable kegelbahn. The proprietor will greet you at the desk, be your waiter at dinner and see you for the free breakfast.
English is spoken - due to the proximity to the US base, Americans stay here when they are moving to or from Germany.
There is ample free parking up the hill next to the hotel building with additional parking across the main street from the hotel. The attached restaurant has excellent Schwabian cooking. There is a walking path adjacent to the parking lot where you can walk/bike/jog forever up and down the surrounding hills behind upscale residential streets. We were using this hotel to drive in and out of Stuttgart and it was convenient.More
