We unfortunately had only one night here but it was very worth coming. Waterhole gave us fine looks at mammals and birds including a young owl and a genet. Excellent food and comfortable room with hot water bottle delivered to make the bed extra nice.

I stayed here for 2 days on safari in October, 2016. The lodge is rustic and located in a beautiful area. For some reason, the animals at the water hole were very sparse and those that came, did not stay long. The food was mediocre and the service indifferent. All in all, not a place I will visit again. One of the members of our group had visited the lodge more than 6 times previously and was livid at the poor food and service and suggested that there must also be something wrong with the water in the watering hole to have caused so much disinterest from the local animals. Of the many places I have stayed in Kenya, this was the worst. Not recommended.

Room tip: All rooms have the same, excellent view but I'd stay elsewhere.

3 hour drive from the Nairobi airport, its located in a isolated setting. Has a water hole and a salt lick. The rooms overlook the water hole. Saw buffaloes, rhinos and impalas. The lodge is very neatly maintained. Food is also good. Definitely I will recommend anyone to stay.

The lodge is 2,134 m above sea level and situated on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya. It has a water hole and salt lick right next to it which is lit up at night. There is also a tunnel that takes you to a hide even nearer to the waterhole. Staff will let you know if anything interesting comes to the waterhole at anytime of the night or day.

Our room looked out upon the waterhole from a small open balcony. It was lovely to look out and see the wildlife. If you are lucky forest elephants come down to drink but unfortunately we didn't see them. Monkeys are a problem and you have to make sure you keep the door of your room locked.

The staff were really friendly and the food good. We opted to go on the forest walk which was interesting and we were lucky enough to see Black and White Colobus Monkeys.

Interesting place with all rooms overlooking a water hole which can come to life at night with various animals watering there. The staff will wake you if you want to see a particular animal and don't want to sit up all night. The nights are cold as this is at altitude so bring warm clothing. The meals were good and the staff great. The rooms have practically no soundproofing so can be a bit noisy. It's a unique experience.
