Starting with the treasury which reveals itself after some minutes walking. Quite crowded, but the sculpturs are fantastic and this is only the start of Petra. We unfortunately didn't have much time so we went to the monastery. It requires quite some time and efforts but at the end its beautiful and with an amazing view on the landscape when going few steps more. We had 5h on site and it is in my taste not enough, it leaves some frustration not to be able to do the other parts... so I would definitely advise to spend more time!

Petra is not concentrated in one area but involves a several mile walk. It is fascinating. You may take a vehicle back. Our college educated guide was excellent.

A must see site! Unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and I’ve traveled extensively. The reason for my trip to Jordan, and I was not disappointed!! These people were very smart in the placement of their city, water management, security etc. very impressive

We intended to do Petra on our own but when we got there we realized how much there is to see. We hired a private guide for 4 of us and he was worth every penny we paid (75 JOD). Besides being a wealth of knowledge he was able to keep the vendors away from us.
Be prepared to walk walk walk. It is about 5k down and 5k back up and it is way harder getting back up
The guide will point out places of interest and you can explore on your way back
Ask you guide about taking you to little Petra and the 6000 yr old ruins close by
Our guide alsoo connected us with a driver to take us for a wonderful lunch overlooking all of Wadi Musa/Petra and also took us to Moses Springs which is not well marked Petra is a must see!

It truly is spectacular, especially the trail into the Siq, the legendary canyon towards the Treasury.
The Monastery is also well worth the trek up the 800 + steps it is truly amazing.
It was very empty when we arrived, around 7 am affording some great photo opportunities.
When we left it was packed with hundreds of Arabic boys (teenagers & young men) running around the place unfortunately spoiling the whole atmosphere of this incredible place.
