A magical place surrounded by magnificent views of volcanoes. Friendly staff, delicious food and a comfortable bed in a lovely room. A fire waiting in your room every night after a lovely dinner in an authentic Inca structure. Highly recommend.

We had lunch here but I was certainly impressed enough to consider staying here on our next trip trip. Some wonderful historic architecture (Inca) and the restaurant and lounge is most pleasant. Relaxed atmosphere and very good food. It felt like having lunch at an old friends house and we felt like guests rather than customers. Excellent.

The hacienda is an unusual and worthwhile experience. The history of the place is impressive and it feels as if you are staying in someone's country home. Our suite was huge, with three fireplaces and views onto the courtyard and grounds. A couple little things needed attention (DVD player was jammed, a few worn chairs, room could get cold late afternoon) but overall very charming and comfortable. The one disappointment was the shower; at this price point it would be nice to have a better shower set-up than standing in a narrow tub with a wrap-around shower curtain clinging to you.

The dining room was lovely, with Inca walls and lots of small lights that gave a candlelight effect. Service was attentive and friendly and the good generally good, particularly the soups and salads.

We did a lot of walking in the area, which was interesting. We rode some of the ranch's horses and enjoyed that, riding for about three hours through nearby villages and on small country roads. The hacienda also arranged a Cotopoxi tour for us, which was outstanding - touring by car, hiking and riding down from the volcano on good quality mountain bikes (guide Geraldo was very accommodating).

Although we enjoyed our stay, it would have been nice to have more guidance from the front desk staff. We had to request information about the available tours, prices, what could be done on the hacienda, wine list, etc. rather than them proffering any help or suggestions. Part of this was a language barrier (our Spanish is rudimentary) and I think part of it was the fact that we were the only guests during our stay and thus the staff was perhaps reduced. We didn't interact with the owner, get asked if we wanted to feed the llamas, or some of the other activities others have noted as available. Not a big deal, but just be aware you may need to plan your own activities or take the initiative with the staff.

A gem in the Andes. First of all, to sleep in a 15th century Inca Palace is enough to make me extremly happy, and put a 5 star review to this gem is an honor , just to have had the foresight to maintain and restore it , but to open it to the public so we can enjoy is just fantastic. To top this , the food and service are outstanding! The place is run like a family home, so you feel "at home" .

A true gem! A MUST in your Ecuador visit.

Room Tip: All are unique.

To stay at the Hacienda San Agustin de Callo was a truly special and unique experience. The walls are breathing history of the last 600 years. The views of Cotopaxi from the property are amazing. The hacienda´s llama herd is cute (and always hungry).

The room was very comfortable and clean. While it was getting cold outside during the night, some hot-water bottles which the staff had placed in our beds, the thick covers and the fireplace kept us warm (tending to the fire during the night to keep it going also helped). The dinner was excellent and enjoyable in the company of other guests, all of us assembled around a large table in the dining room with Inca walls. Dinner and lunch, by the way, were included in the price, even though it didn't say so on the Booking.com website. This makes the rather hefty price acceptable. Last but not least: The coffee was the best we had in all of Ecuador. Intense taste and a texture smooth as silk, without any acidity to be felt. Together with home-made milk, cheese, bread and jam this provided for a fantastic breakfast. Next time in Ecuador we would stop there again - and possibly longer.
