“Beautiful cabins and scenery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2013

We stayed in the "Captains Quarters" and it was a very nice 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin. The cabin was very clean and spacious. We walked the trail around the creek and it was very beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be returning soon.

We had a room in what they call the call a 'condo'. It was pretty basic with 2 queen beds, one night table, a single chair and a full bath. It was clean, the AC was great. Clean and comfortable, but nothing fancy. Nice seating on the deck, shared by multiple 'condos'. There was a huge Webber Grill available too, although we had been told the condo's had gas grills and the cabins charcoal grill. We were disappointed that there was not a better view of the lake from the deck. Even the cabins below didn't seem to have a clear shot at the view, lots of trees around. Still, the woodsy setting was quiet and relaxing. The bed was REALLY really soft - sounds comfy but not good if you have back problems. Accommodations were adequate but, for the price, we would probably explore other options... depends what your needs are...

We rented rustic cabin #3. When we walked in, the smell of cleaning chemicals was overwhelming, but it was better than the smell that seeped through after that. This cabin smelled like urine so bad (probably dog) that we ended up leaving a day early. The woman at the office apologized, but would not give us a refund unless the cabin ended up getting rented (which it apparently did not, because we did not receive a refund). Personally, if I owned a place like this, I would have given a refund for the night that the customer did not stay and probably a discount on the nights they did stay. I would never stay here again or recommend that anyone else does either.

Our family and another family rented 2-bedroom cottages, and had booked early enough to book two of them side-by-side. Was pleasantly surprised that each bedroom had it's own en suite bath (website didn't indicate this). Cottages were roomy and clean with central air. Nice spacious decks.

We also rented a pontoon from Swaha - was also nicer than expected (ask for an anchor if you plan on hanging out and swimming in a cove).

Cabins were stocked with most kitchen wares needed - if one cabin didn't have something needed the other one would. Some items I would recommend bringing with you: salt, pepper and other seasonings as needed; paper towels; wine/bottle opener; potato peeler; citronella candles if you like sitting outside; garbage bags and/or Ziploc bags. The on-property store has some items/groceries/ice.

Our GPS brought us in via long stretches gravels roads - if your instructions do the same I would recommend approaching Swaha from Murfreesoboro if you prefer paved roads to gravel (Swaha directional signage was better on paved roads, as opposed to sparse signage on the gravel roads we were on).

First night there we just ate at the on-property "Dam Grill" since we'd been driving better part of the day, had unpacked car and didn't feel like driving into town afterwards. They had a selection of burgers, corn dogs, nachos, quesadillas, etc. Also served milk shakes but didn't get a chance to try one. They also served breakfast but we didn't try that out

There was hardly anybody else on Lake Greeson the Sunday in late June we were there, which was yet another pleasant surprise... Our friends' 9-year old son was having 'withdrawls' the first day there since there wasn't wi-fi available, but while we were swimming on the lake stated "this is more fun than playing Star Wars" (on the computer at home) Should also note that cell phone was reception was spotty at best (non-existent, more or less)... but that was OK with us. Cottages were equipped with Direct TV

Very nice experience overall

Room Tip: We stayed in 2-bedroom cottages #5 and #6 - highly recommended!

This was our first stay at Swaha and we really enjoyed it! Kevin and Rhonda are wonderful and very helpful. If you stay 6 nights you get the 7th night free. We stayed in a Rustic Cabin and it is Rustic as they say. There are no dressers but there are closets. The bathroom has a small shower and towels & wash cloths are provided every day. The cabin has a nice deck that overlooks the lake and has a charcole grill. There is a kitchen with a oven/stove, fridge and small microwave & table & chairs. There are window AC units which cool the place nicely. They have Direct TV with lots of channels, no phone and I could not get a cell phone signal inside or outside of the cabin which was actually a nice thing! The office is located in the marina and you can get fresh hot pizza and wings as well as other food and supplies. There is a grocery store in town and a Dollar store if you want to get supplies there.
The location is beautiful and only about 8 miles away from Crater Of Diamond State Park which we went to several times. Hot Springs is only an hour away.
We didn't rent a boat this time but will do so next time. We really loved it and will be back!

Room Tip: Rustic Cabin#3 has a new overhang on the deck the others don't have that yet.
