My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time at Iberostar Punta Cana! It was just the tropical paradise we were looking for to escape everyday life/stress. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned nicely each day. If you go hungry here, it is your own fault because there is ALWAYS something to eat somewhere! Aside from the buffet and specialty restaurants at mealtimes, there are snack bars, appetizers, ice cream and, of course, drinks available throughout the resort. The French speciality restaurant was our favorite -- the others were somewhat disappointing (not bad, just not as good as we had expected).

We spent most of our time lounging by/in the pool (which is quite large) or at the beach. The beach/water are amazingly beautiful and if you get one of the thatched-roof huts on the beach you can stay out all day. The huts provide great shelter from the sunshine if you need it. I do--I burn pretty easily.

We treated ourselves to a couples massage at the on-site spa. The treatments were very reasonably priced for a resort spa. Note that If you want the "ocean-side" massage (outside on the beach) you need to specifically ask for it.

I have only two "critiques" of our experience: First, the activities put on by the resort were not well organized or advertised. A few times we showed up at the place/time indicated on the schedule to participate in an event, only to wait around for someone from the resort to show up (if they showed up at all). We were mainly interested in relaxation, so it wasn't a problem for us...but if you like to do a lot of activities it may bother you. Second, the only internet access is at the sister resort next door. You can walk over there, as we did, but it isn't a short walk, and you'll need to purchase an ID card that gives you 30 minutes of access.

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay again at Iberostar Punta Cana!

We stayed 2 weeks and could happily have stayed longer. Room was great, two double beds, air con and a fan, fridge stocked everyday, clean towels (and towel origami) everyday, overlooking the pool and gardens.
We had first class massage treatments and manicure at the spa at reasonable cost (I'm a massage therapist myself and was able to pick up a few nice movements to add to my repertoire).
Activities staff were great. Lots of dancing and music. All staff really friendly and helpful. While we in one of the beach side restaurants a lady fainted and banged her head on the floor. The staff (waiters, bartenders, even one of the chefs) came forward very quickly to help her. They had the on-site medical team there in minutes and despatched one of the staff to find her family by the pool. They all showed great concern for her.
There was plenty of different food to choose from. I'm a picky eater but still managed to stuff myself silly. And you can drink as much as you can take! Water offered in the restaurants and the ice is purified so safe to drink.
They clear the seaweed off the beach unlike the adjacent hotels so you could tell when you were leaving the Iberostar beach front.
If you stay at the Punta Cana you get to use the facilties of the adjacent Dominicana hotel which is more lively. I did consider staying at the Dominicana but was glad we stayed at the Punta Cana as it was nice to retreat to the quieter hotel after dipping into the more boisterous side of the Dominicana.
For us, the only thing that this hotel lacked was a poolside bar as it was a bit of trek to get a drink when you were by the pool but while we were there they were busy erecting a wooden hut between the two pools. If this turns out to be a bar (and I suspect it will be) then it would have been perfect for us. Wouldn't hesitate to go back there.
As with any tropical country the mosquitoes were a problem but we expect that in the Carribbean. We found that a natural insect repellant containing eucalyptus oil worked better for us than the high strength one containing deet.
The prices of things in the hotel shops were cheaper than the independant traders who visit the hotel once a week and considerably cheaper than the Duty Free shop at the airport. The local traders did have a greater range of jewellery so worth a look. Be prepared to haggle over the price though.
All I would say to watch out for is ordering wine from the wine list in the a la carte restaurants. They will offer this to you first but it is not included in your All-Inclusive tariff and you have to pay extra. It is very expensive. If you decline the wine list they bring you the inclusive wine anyway, which is extremely drinkable.
Overall we had the best time at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed at Iberostar Varadero in Cuba last year and chose Iberostar again hoping for another fantastic holiday experience. We were not disappointed!

My Wife and I stayed here in April this year flew with First Choice, we arrived to the sound of a huge building site next door which we were not informed of before our holiday. The staff are very nice but the food is dangerous nothing is hot, the speciality restaurauts are not much better except the hard rock cafe.
After three days we tried to come home, the rep was not helpful, and we could not get a flight. We decided to make the best of a bad job, the room was ok if but the toilet had a leak for the juration of our stay. This is not a seperate hotel it is a part of a complex which makes it very busy and struggles to keep up with the demands.
The entertainment was Ok in the first week but by the second week due to the hotel being quiter they did not put much on.
If you like it relaxing with nice food and wine go to the Iberostar Costa-Dorada far superior.
The airport rep was also very rude when our taxi did not arrive and basically called us liers, why would we pay 40 dollars extra if the TAXI had been their for us, sorry first choice never again.

We recently stayed 6 days at the Iberostar Punta Cana and were delighted with the resort, a typical, sprawling, mega-complex; common to many all-inclusive resorts in the DR.

It’s a busy place, for sure, and not necessarily for those seeking serenity. However, for those of you who enjoy the option of partaking in non-stop animation, activities, shows, as well as 24-hr/day gastronomy, the Iberostar certainly lives up to its name. It is a stunning resort with gorgeous landscaping.

The room size was generous, clean and the maid service impeccable. The mini-bar was topped up every day with alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages and fresh towels provided each day.

There are a variety of buffet and a-la-carte restaurants to choose from and anyone claiming an insufficient variety of food needs to take a hard look at their attitude. The dishes offered ranged from mediocre Yankee fast food to excellent international cuisine – the choice is all yours. Buffet presentations are top-ranked.

The beach is stunning and the water was warm. Is it a quiet beach? Heck no but pretty well all beaches fronting all-inclusive resorts will be like this and many, if not most, travellers are fine with this. If you enjoy watching others or interacting with them, you will enjoy the beach.

Staff was overall friendly, attentive, and eager to please. Embrace the locals, smile often and throw in a heartfelt “hola” and you will receive fantastic service. We were never disappointed.

An added advantage is that you can enjoy all the amenities, including restaurants, of the sister-resort next door, the Iberostar Dominican Republic.

We loved this place. I am appalled at the negative reviews I have read on here, cannot actually believe they were staying at the same place as us. The staff ARE friendly and do not expect tips. They sing as they work and are always pleasant and polite. The grounds are beautiful and the passing flamingos, ducks, turtles, cockateels, chickens and chicks were an added bonus. Yes, there are a lot of flies and mosquitoes - so take sprays with you, obvious.

Four pools yet the one nearest our room was empty most of the time. From 3ft 11 to 5 ft 1 the children tended to stay away from this pool and used the shallower one. Cleaned twice a day manually.

All the food was delicious. PIzza, omelettes, pasta and smoothies made Very clean restaurant and delightful staff.

Reception area is very plain, no air conditioning but ceiling fans. Shop gifts are not expensive but sun lotion and toiletries are. Bar staff (especially Daniel) are extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful cocktails (Tiger is my favourite!) Brand named shorts available if requested. Cocktail waiter most evenings outside the restaurant shouting "o oh" handing out the daily flavour. Very amusing.

The room is basic, one large queen size bed, 1 chair. TV had BBC america. Bathrooom's finish was shabby but sufficient. Air con worked - thank goodness. Cleaned daily, mini bar replenished daily, swans made from towels ...... always a nice look when returning from a day on the beach.

Beach very clean. Not crammed. $10 for 1 hour of internet usage. $10 to get in the country and $20 to get out .......

Hotel states not to reserve sunbeds but it does happen, but it was not too busy so this was not an issue. Anamacion staff - brilliant - not pushy but approachable and helpful.

Will definately be booking for next year, June 2012 - it was perfect for us
