This resort is by far the worst I have ever been to, and I have traveled extensively. The facility is pretty but the service is horrible. They call this an all inclusive but it really should be called "semi-inclusive". They say wifi is free. It's only free in casino and spa (places where you are spending money.) It's only free at those places from 4 am to 4 pm. Very little English is spoken at the resort. Many in my group could speak Spanish but if you can't you might run into problems. The staff seemed annoyed if you needed anything.
Check in:
The check in staff was extremely rude. The manager treated my group terribly.
Food:
Room service is an up charge. This is a real problem because many people in my group had stomach issues from the food. You aren't allowed to take any food out of the buffet and back to your room even if someone is sick. So if you don't feel good you basically have to buy food at this resort. Food is not readily available 24 hours a day like a traditional all inclusive. There is no food available at the pool or beach. Most resorts have a beach grill or pool service. And since you can't take food out of the buffet, you have to go in. And then guests steal your beach chairs.
Drinks:
Very hard to get any drinks at the bar unless you are waiving money at the bartender.
Rooms:
The rooms are clean, but the service is terrible. Towels are not always replaced. We called one day because we literally had no towels other than 2 small washcloths. We waited a half hour and called again asking for 4 towels. I showered after the second call and just dried off with a washcloth because I needed to get going. My daughter came up from the pool after the second call while I was in the shower. They brought 2 towels. She said we asked for 4. The attendant YELLED at my daughter and said why do you need more towels because you have already showered (her hair was wet from the pool). Could not have been more rude. My daughter is almost fluent in Spanish and clearly told the attendant in Spanish that she had wet hair from the pool and please bring more towels. They didn't. Unacceptable
Clubs:
The kids in my group who were over 18 went to the disco. They all had wristbands indicating they were over 18. The bouncer yanked many of these girls by the arm to the point where it hurt in order to check how loose the wristband is, not just whether it was the correct color. Unacceptable to treat paying guests this way. These girls were well behaved but manhandled by staff.
Dinners:
Unless you are concierge level, you really can't get into a restaurant before 10:30 at night. I have never run into this at any other all inclusive. We had to eat at the buffet for most meals.
Kids water park, mini golf, and bowling:
Every one of these amenities is an up charge. This resort really isn't a true all-inclusive.
miscellaneous:
Basic things aren't included. If you want to weigh your luggage before heading to the airport, you have to pay for it. It's clear that the staff expects a lot of tips. No wait staff at the beach at all. Minimal wait staff at the pool. You get one beach towel and if someone steals your towel you are out of luck unless you find an extremely understanding towel attendant.
We have friends who stayed at other resorts in Punta Cana and they had a great experience. If you want to visit Punta Cana go to Hard Rock or Iberostar
