Arodou is a delightful taverna / restaurant in Kounipidianna on the Akrotiri peninsula.

We’ve been there four or five times this summer and the food, wine and service is very good indeed.

We went there last night with visiting relatives and highly recommend the mushrooms with a delicious homemade sauce and the zucchini and cheese croquettes as starters.

The owner always has a couple of specials to tempt you but last night we tried his pork loin with a spicy tomato sauce which was delicious and the chicken chunks in a mustard and curry sauce. Again delicious

It’s Greek but different and as we live here the year round it’s nice to have something a little out of the ordinary.

The restaurant itself is well laid out, clean and the ambience is perfect. They also have an extensive fenced play area for kids if you want your raki without the children at your feet.

Speaking of Raki, he has various homemade flavours which he will tempt you with.

Highly recommended.

Great food, great service, excellent staff. Visited this restaurant twice during our visit to Crete. Would definitely recommend it. Keep it up and Rafael, buy the BMW 4

We went to this tavern to try fish in Crete. Octopus is very tasty and simply grilled. They also had fresh bream, also tasty but a little dry. It costed a little more than other cretan taverns, maybe because of fish, but is not exactly worth it (40€ approx 4 dishes 2 pax). I suggest to try this tavern because is a very nice location and is not full of turists.

Good food and reasonable prices! One of the only restaurants we’ve been to in Greece that didn’t charge for water or bread. They treated us with ice cream and mint flavoured raki after our meal.
