Somehow we got to book this place, and we are glad to have done so.
This place is a perfect chance to look into keralities' life and culture.
Our stay was excellent, with Minni and Jithu(mum and son), serving us the best of food, freshly cooked, in kerala style, on our demand.
Minni is such a lovely person, she let me in in her kitchen and also taught me how to cook the legendary kerala chicken curry. She is so caring that she soaks everyhting in salt and water, to drain out the chemicals used during cultivation, before cooking anything. Her funda is, the guests might not know how she is preparing a meal, but god surely is watching all the time! Isn't that a gesture of purity, love and care!
Jithu took us to the town on his bike and also promised to take us to fishing on our next visit. He also taught us some of the malayalam pharases like 'shaery chetta' which means okae big brother.
The beach is only 50 meters away from this place and the best part is that the beach is secluded, with hundreds of fishing boats anchored in the middle of sea.
The nature lovers will be glad to find the water species like crabs, shrimps and other water creatures on one side of the beach.
And this place wont make a hole in your pocket, they charged us utmost reasonable prices.
Someone looking for peace and joy and serenity and love should definitely stay at this home stay.

Room Tip: clean rooms with such a loveley view

It would be hard to find a home stay better than this one! Mini and Jithu (mother and son) run the show, immediately greeting guests with open arms and big hearts. They gave us delicious fresh juices on arrival and hand made necklaces. We were overwhelmed by their generosity and kindness.

Mini cooks delicious food, masala chai and fresh juices. She makes loads of it and always wants her guests to be satisfied. Both are always available to ask for anything. Jithu even came with us on a tuk tuk tour of the closest village, showing us places of interest and making sure we didn't get ripped off in shops. He was very patient while we looked with great interest at shops full of plastic treasures.

The secluded white sandy beach is just 50m away, there's no one around except the odd fisherman so it's almost private. Very unusual in Kerala. It's also really interesting to see the fishermen at work.

The room was clean, modern and has everything we needed. They even supply toothbrushes! It was lovely sitting under the fan on the veranda in the evenings listening to the waves and looking at the fairy lights in the trees.

We were really sad to leave after 2 nights and Mini told us we were always welcome back. We even returned for the beach and dinner a few days later as our next home stay was disappointing (Marari Beach House) and only 4km away. They were so happy to see us again and offered showers even though we weren't staying.

If you are staying in this part of Kerala, don't miss out on this place!

The stay at Marari Edens was one of the highlights of our Kerala-Trip. Of you think about going there: just do it. You will not be disappointed!

Location: The house is right next to the beach where you can watch the fishermen, a beautiful sunset or the crabs digging their holes. The beach is very clean, you can go swimming as well. We were the only western tourists we saw during our stay and everything is very calm and relaxing. Although we did not have any trouble finding the place, make your driver call the homestay to ensure he finds the way.

Food: Simply great, very fresh fish directly from the near fishermen.

Activities: the hosts arranged a backwater tour for a normal price and we even went with them to a wedding of their friends to spend some time there and get to know Kerala's culture. For couples: Book the candlelight dinner directly at the beach. There is nothing more romantic than having dinner under starlight!

Rooms/cleanliness/hospitality:
Everything was very clean and as you would expect. We had warm water for showering. The hosts made sure we lacked absolutely nothing. Everyone made you feel at home while still providing resort-level service.

All in all we a looking forward to our next stay!

We felt right at home. Stay in Marari Edens was one of the best experiences of our trip through southern India thanks to the attention of Jithu and his lovely family.
Besides the beautiful experience of sharing a few days with them, the room and bathroom were very clean, the external environment and the small immaculate garden carefully and lovingly cared at maximum detail. And we will never forget the delicious homemade dishes typical cuisine of India and Kerala we ate there: sambar, fish curry, vegetable curry, pickle, chapati, puttu (rice steam cake), dosa, idli ... and different types of fresh fish.
The house is located very near by the beach and we were able to stroll near by the sea watching the boats and fishermen.
