Best hotel experience of our trip

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Mar 2018via mobile
Only stayed here for a few days to get over jet lag before heading out to explore the island. This was by far the best hotel experience of our trip and easily beats the luxury hotels of Santo Domingo. Saskia and Marc are just as nice and helpful as everyone says. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable; also quite apparently brand new. Couples - if you have only recently met, take into consideration the fact, that at least the toilet in our room did not have a door. 🙂 Two pools (shared with neighbouring Casa 21), pleasant garden / pool area. Breakfast well worth the money. Staff make excellent cocktails and the food at the restaurant of Casa 21 is actually quite impressive. The hotel is a short walk from the beach (you do have to cross a very busy road). There’s also a supermarket close by. Wasn’t a big fan of Sosúa, but would definitely stay in this hotel again.

I heard this statement several times daily from our wonderful host Saskia, who with Marc, created a perfectly tranquil home base for our north coast DR vacation. With everything neatly coordinated prior to our arrival, the airport service and taxi ride was smooth, we arrived at the boutique b and b greeted by three very different, but all equally loveable, dogs, and our gracious hosts, Marc and Saskia. Our 7 night, 8 day stay was flawless. The Royal Suite was always tidy, mini bar well stocked, with every need already met, or quickly met by staff. The whole staff was remarkably friendly, professional, and eager to assist from hosts, to waitstaff, to housekeeping, and grounds crew. Breakfast is excellent with choices of various breads, meat, cheeses, spreads, and eggs prepared by order. My wife and I assumed we would spend most of our days in town or exploring nearby Cabarete and Puerto Plata, but after a day in each, we were so pampered at Casa-22, we spent most of our remaining days right by the pool resting, sunning, chatting with guests, or watching the dogs. Everything was very much to our liking. We will most certainly return.

We needed a quiet getaway for only 5 days. Somewhere to have peace and quiet, outstanding food, and the best hospitality. We were more than 100% pleased with Casa 22 & Casa 21 (known as Case Veintiuno). We booked the room at Casa 22, we had the pool side room which was beautiful and modern with a shower that had two shower heads (great for couples). The bed was a king size and super comfortable. We were steps from the pool and the lounge area and 20 steps to Casa Veintiuno that served the most wonderful meals. We are foodies from Toronto and I can honestly say the dinners were comparable if not better than some of the best in T.O.

The accommodations were 5 star but it was the hospitality of Saskia and Marc that made our trip outstanding. We arrived on Friday night and had no booking for any excursions. We didn't realize because of our short stay that excursions were difficult to arrange b/c most tour groups book in advance for the upcoming week and don't run excursions every day. However, at dinner during our meal, Saskia connected with the tour groups to find us space on a waterfall/jungle excursion we really wanted to do and had it all arranged by the time we finished dinner with a pick up first thing in the morning. Not only that, they even opened the kitchen 30 min early to have breakfast ready for us before our pick-up time. Wow, that was service! That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the 5 days. We want to thank Saskia and Marc for a wonderful time.

This new hotel comes with big, excellent rooms! Hotel facilities are great and the hotel managers (that are the owners of the hotel next door, Casa 21) are very kind, truly great service! We had two relaxing days in this small hotel, the price/value is excellent! The hotel is located a 10 min walk away from Sosua town, with beaches, services and restaurants. The hotel next door has a great restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa 22! Saskia and Marc own Casa Veintiuno which is attached to Casa 22 and they take care of all guest at both locations. There is attention to every detail needed. You are greeted as part of the family. The Sosua Beach is easy to walk to, as is town. Safe, certified water on location. The restaurant, Casa Veintiuno is the best in town - you will not be disappointed!. Casa 21 was recommended to us by a friend that had stayed previously. Many guests return every year! The rooms are fantastic, the staff really cares and everyone is accommodating.

Having travelled to Cabarete three times in the past, this wasn’t our first trip to the DR but was our first to Sosua. We stayed at Casa 22 which is attached to Casa 21 where our hosts, Marc and Saskia run both their inn and Casa Veintiuno, the best restaurant in Sosua.

We were greeted by Saskia along with their three friendly and very well behaved dogs. After welcoming us with complimentary rum drinks, Saskia escorted us to our wonderful room, the Glamor Suite and gave us a tour of the beautifully maintained property along the way.

Being a couple who enjoys gourmet dining, we were impressed not only with the food but also with the professional and friendly staff. The team worked seamlessly together to make sure each guest was attended to and at no time were they intrusive. The food was creative, very tasty, beautifully presented and bountiful. We had the opportunity to chat with the head chef for a while and get her take on how she expertly sources great ingredients. The cocktails were tuned to our liking and the wine selection was lengthy. The owners, being Belgian, also maintain a wonderful variety of Belgian beers.

The decor is elegant with simple lines and colors complimented with oil paintings and furnishings. Our room had a lovely and large soaking tub with a great view of the greenery outside. The pool areas were nicely appointed with plenty of clean towels, chaise lounges, umbrellas and a massage cabana with linen privacy drapes. The pool was clean and well maintained with a very relaxing spa-like audio track playing in the background.

Saskia referred us to several restaurants to allow us some variety in our dining but our favorite was Casa Veintiuno @ Casa 21 with the very welcoming and fashionable Saskia hosting each night.

We wanted to visit some of the restaurants we liked in Cabarete and it was an easy 700 peso cab ride in the evening. Cabbing it to downtown Sosua was a quick 300 peso ride when we wanted to be “in town.”

Two beaches are easily accessible from the inn, Playa Sosua and Playa Alicia. The former is lined with small shops and restaurants and is a shallow beach. The water was clear and warm with mild waves. Playa Alecia was a deeper beach with plenty of space, clear , warm water and great beach waiters who will get you chairs, umbrellas and drinks (for 500 pesos plus drinks). We preferred Playa Alecia but both were nice.
We hope to return to Casa 21/Casa 22 again. If we were to stay in Cabarete, we would certainly make the trip to Casa Veintiuno @ Casa 21 just for the dining.

Thank you for a wonderful experience!
