I have been staying at Villa Chessa for almost 10 years when I visit the Dominican Republic. It is located in the Playa Chiquita area very close to town but just enough distance away to escape the traffic and noise. It is in a very tranquil high-end neighborhood surrounded by large homes on the beach The hotel is beautiful and well maintained, and the rooms are very comfortable. Mario Chessa is the owner and he is respected and loved by everyone because he takes care of his guests. He will do anything and everything to make sure they are safe, comfortable and having a great time. The hotel caters to everyone including singles, families, groups, weddings, parties.....you name it. Mario and his staff provide transportation to town, the beaches, restaurants, and will come pick you up when you are ready to return to the hotel. They will pick you up at the airport when you arrive and drop you off on your return flight. Mario's services are second to none and this is very valuable to any traveler to the D.R. to have someone like him to make sure you have everything you need all of the time. He will even call the restaurants for you to have food delivered or take you to a doctor should you need medical attention. Everyone who stays at Villa Chessa is a returning customer over and over year after year because of Mario and his excellent service and fine attention to detail. My girlfriend is a food/hospitality executive in the capital and loves to come visit me at Villa Chessa. Breakfast is included with the room. The hotel restaurant and bar is open from early morning for breakfast until closing time later in the evening. Everyone congregates here and I have had some of the best times of my life there. You can meet people there from almost anywhere in the world. The hotel staff are wonderful and the permanent non-seasonal employees have been there since I began coming there almost 10 years ago. This is because they are happy and love their job and are treated like family by Mario. I give Villa Chessa and Mario Chessa my highest rating and recommendation for anyone coming to the D.R. to come to the hotel and enjoy the service and ambiance of this fine hotel.

Let me start off by giving credit to the staff before I explain myself. Bolivar (the manager) and Ariani (the bartender) were outstanding, very accommodating, and friendly, however much less positive things might be said for the owner of this hotel. I have never left a negative review before, but I am so disappointed with my stay that I am writing this in hopes of keeping another from being exposed to such an experience. When I go on vacation I desire to be welcomed, feel safe, and be around people who are in good spirits. However, the owner of this hotel is just the opposite. Mario Chessa spoke to his women employees as though they were animals and made my family and I feel very unwelcome. It seems as though guests are not wanted at this hotel unless they are bringing home a surplus of "working girls" from downtown to say it nicely. I felt very uncomfortable at this establishment and made the mistake of not going somewhere else while in the DR. I will not be staying here again, and if you are looking for good energy and a positive environment, I would strongly advise for you to look elsewhere.

First & foremost kudos to Mario Chessa the owner of Hotel Villa Chessa & the manager Bollivar for running a great establishment. Although the Villa Chessa is located in Playa Chiquita they offer free shuttle service from 0600-2000 daily to Sosua, the beaches, & the Puerto Plata Airport. You won't meet a kindlier, friendly, courteous staff than the Villa Chessa staff who will stop at nothing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. In addition if you want to be away from the Sosua strip, where you have peace of mind & tranquility the Hotel Villa Chessa is the place to be. Last but not least the Wi Fi is great
