I came across with this place by coincidence while looking for a room past midnight driving from Puerto Plata, spent a few days/nights there during the first week of this month. My overall experience was average, despite two annoying and one very disappointing incidents: 1) I left for breakfast late in the morning, returning about two hrs. later my unit was filled literally with contractors doing some plumbing and electrical work, which prevented me from taking a quick shower and head out to put in motion my plans for the day, 2) The following day, on a request from the Front Desk around noon, I had to allow three individuals to apparently complete the unfinished work from the prior day, despite voicing my concerns the day before about having crew working while the unit was rented. Those jobs must be done while they are vacant, unless some sort of emergency occurs. 3) Around two hours after checking out, while driving to Santo Domingo I realized that I left behind locked in the safe my American passport and around 6 thousand dollars and pesos; knowing that the safe was locked I returned confidently to claim my valuables, but to my surprise the German Manager Beatrice Schneiter, after getting a call from Jessica her puppy Recepcionist, made an unbelievable scene, even questioning why I was carrying so much cash, which I later realized was just a plot to force me to give both a 10% tip for "recovering" my valuables, "following European traditions" in cases like this, according to her. That started an argument that did not end up ugly because of my mature handling of the situation before it escalated further. Beatrice is arrogant, disrespectful and I noticed she treats guests as employees, unless they are Germans, which to me is prejudicial.
I liked the place, and even took a tour thinking of buying one of those units to use in my occasional vacations, but after the safe incident quickly changed my mind. They had all my contact information, but did not even bother to call and notify me of the valuables left behind, instead they quickly opened the safe, and later wanted to extort me! That is beyond dishonest in a lodge facility, even for Dominicans with low life standards....I might wind up buying a unit at Sosua, but definitely not at the Club Residential, at least while Beatrice and Jessica are running the daily operations of the condo association.
