second floor ocean view balcony is really "obstructed view" I wouldn't pay extra because your view is basically blocked by a big tiki hut roof. First day we had to have someone come to our room because we could not get the water to turn on in our shower. They fixed it in about an hour. After the first day they took the volleyball net down and I never got to play. We went to this area thinking it would be quite, relaxing and yet also have some local night life. There is a constant annoyance of locals trying to sell you garbage when you are trying to layout, read, and even while dining. Between the people trying to sing/play guitar during dinner & ladies trying to corn row my hair or give me a message it was not as relaxing as it could have been. My boyfriend did do the spa and the last minute hour massage was setup and he really enjoyed it.

Room Tip: do not pay extra fro the ocean view room. sunset is not in that direction over the thanksgiving holiday

Hola Brenda,

We are very sad to hear that you were not 100% satisfied with your stay at Villa Taina. Most of our "Ocean Side" rooms do have a view of the ocean, but some of the views are partially obstructed by palm trees and the tiki roof to our restaurant.

On occasion, we do have to fix things at the hotel, but we do our very best to stay on top of potential issues with a regular maintenance schedule. Sometimes thing pop up and we try to remedy problems asap, as seems was the case here. Although we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience.

As far as the local vendors go, unfortunately, we are not in charge of them. Many people do enjoy their services, but we do understand that some do not.

Ultimately, we are glad your boyfriend enjoyed his spa visit and we hope you found other things that you enjoyed about your vacation in Cabarete.

Take care!

Spent 2 nights at resort during the Cabarete Jazz Festival with my mother. We had one of the rooms on the top floor. Comfort Ocean Premium Room had a beautiful view of the beach and location was ideal to walk to restaurants and bars in town. Resort was clean and staff were friendly. Room was spacious and had nice simple decor. Easy to walk right down to beach and reResort is spread out over a few different buildings and there are no elevators in case mobility is a problem. Only downside is there was not much parking.

Hola! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay during the Jazz Fest. What a world class event, right?? Thanks for the kind words on our service and amenities. The parking is something, unfortunately, we can't change. When we built our hotel 20 years ago, we had no idea it would grow the way it has! The good news is, although our parking lot is small, there is plenty of parking on the street right in front of the hotel.

Thanks again for the review and we can't wait to welcome you back. Maybe for next year's Jazz Fest??

Take care!

My wife and I had a great stay! We enjoyed the beach in front of the hotel and the convenience of the bar / restaurant just a few steps away. Also, having the water sports rentals there was awesome, they offered Paddle boards, kayaks, kite & surf boards. Kite surf lessons were available at the same location with expert instructors. Overall the perfect spot to enjoy them all!

Room Tip: If you are looking for more privacy and less noise avoid the ground floor rooms.

Hola! Thanks for taking the time to give us this review. Just a little history, we actually had the watersports center way before we had the hotel (20 years ago). It's the foundation of everything at our hotel. So, we are happy to hear that you found it convenient and useful. Hopefully we get to welcome you on your next trip to Cabarete. Take care!

Had a wonderful three days at this hotel on the beach in Cabarete. The room was large with balcony, large flat screen TV and free WiFi. Buffet breakfast included with crepe pancakes and eggs made to order.

Room Tip: Three types = top floor premium rooms with ocean view, rooms facing the ocean, but not really a view and rooms on side of building facing the main street.
