I agree with the other reviewer about a lack of information on Gideon Scheepers and exactly why he was executed. Little explanation. The uniforms were interesting along with the various artifacts used by the soldiers. Some displays were quite moving.

Come on!! You guys can do better than this! A great set of stories to be told - but none of them really explained. Not once is the story of Gideon Scheepers properly told although there are some great items around the story of his capture, trial and execution. We had to google it to understand his significance while walking around the room. The same with the second world war and the role of the Midlands Regiment. Someone needs to ask a retired history teacher to spend some time here to turn a bit of a mess into something quite special

Thoroughly loved museum displays write ups and information was clear and descriptive though lacking personnel to explain any questions along the way for missing items.

Was slightly saddened all 3 museums opened public holidays and weekends except this one and the library - these I would suspect are days people usually in town.

Missed last 3 rooms due to lunch shutdown, but will have to catch next vacation. Promptness is fortunately a quality appreciated by the staff.

It gives an interesting overview of military history in the town. The demise of the military units are sad.

The Military History Museum is one of the 5 museums in Graaff-Reinet. If you plan to visit more than one museum it is better to buy all the tickets at the first museum for a discounted price (Entry for one museum is R15 and more than one is R10 each)

The museum is between the Urquhart House Museum and Reinet House. It consists of one hall with information about the military history of Graaff-Reinet. The information, pictures and newspaper articles on the walls are very interesting (if you take the time to read it)
