There are many reasons to visit Mali, but contemporary architecture is not one. However, Mopti has two exceptions, this hotel being one of them. Although made of the most common material, adobe block, it pushes construction to the edge with its use of arches, and to its three/four story height. Exploring its corridors, stairways, roof decks and interior spaces is a treat. The other building in town is the Museum of Mud Architecture: introducing Mopi's Grand Mosque, as well as Djenne's and Timbuctou's.

Room Tip: My ground floor room opened to a corridor along interior courtyard, which was great. Save views of the neighborhood for visits to the roof decks.

This would be a beautiful hotel any place in the world. It is graceful and romantic. The rooms are spacious. The food was excellent. Unless you're on a really strict budget this is the very best place to stay in Mopti.

What a wonderful hotel in the middle of Mali! Beautifully designed with comfortable rooms, lovely nooks to see the sunset, have dinner before a roaring fire, sit in the tropical garden with a book and a French breakfast. Made my trip to Mali more memorable than I could ever have expected.

Stayed there for two nights, before and after Dogon country. The MR is almost an oasis with tastefully decorated rooms and common areas, clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water, Mattresses are a bit hard and pillow are quite small and not very comfortable. The location is about five blocks from the river in a distry, unappealing street. It is safe to walk from the hotel to the main road
Local staff are nice . The managers, a French man and woman are not that friendly, (unless you are Francophone.)
The breakfast consisted of a brioche, a small cup of sliced papaya and banana, toast with papaya jam and butter. Coffee was better than the average.in Mali. Dinner was good and nicely presented. There is a wide selection of drinks at the bar but including imported wines and spirits. WiFi is free but only available in the reception area.Connection speed was Ok for Mali

This was by far the best hotel in Mali, fantastic design, great food, wonderful interior, friendly and well trained stuff - an oasis in a slightly chaotic city. We enjoyed it very very much and would always come back to this place. Thank you for this unforgetable experience. We can strongly recommend it.
