While cruising we have visited Mare 3 times and taken the short bus ride to Yejele Beach. It's a great day, the water was clear, we snorkeled, ate, drank local Beer, drank from fresh coconuts and relaxed. The locals are lovely and we enjoy the little market they have before you get on the buses.

We were on a cruise ship and going to Yejele beach was the only option. So we bought tickets for the bus ($20 per person return, and there is no way you could walk it), and we were on our way. When we reached the beach we were surprised that it was long so it didn't feel overcrowded even though I would think at least 75% of the passengers got off the ship. The water was so clear and inviting. There were little shacks that were selling local food and icecream. They even had shacks selling alcohol ($5 for local beer $10 for vodka cruiser). And they took Australian money so no need to exchange to local currency. Just make sure you take small notes with you ie $5 or $10's.
The snorkelling was great, although the coral wasn't colourful like we saw in Fiji. But there were plenty of fish to be seen. Just be sure to take lots of sunscreen because we stayed there for hours. Such a beautiful place.

This is a destination beach. Arrive on a cruise ship, book the shuttle, let go for the day, come back and relax on the ship.
Is it worth it? Absolutely. There is nothing else to do on the island anyway.
It cost us A$16 per person for a return shuttle. The beach has plenty of stalls selling refreshments, fruit, chicken kebabs, and more. But do look around before buying as the price and quantity does vary.
Tip: Take the coach, not the mini bus. The coach is air conditioned. The mini buses are driven by ex-kamikaze pilots!

We came to Marè on a P&O Cruise from Sydney. We took a Shuttle Bus organised by P&O to the Yejele Beach. The drive took about 20 and the views on the way were absolutely stunning! The driver was very friendly, but only spoke very little English. There were beautiful huts at the beach for you to sit in to hide from the sun and locals around selling food and Nick-nacks. It was a beautiful day!

Yedjele Beach was beautiful. We were on Marè for a few hours with our P & O cruise. We organised a shuttle bus to take us to the beach for the day. The water was pristine, cool and we had a relaxing day. The locals came out with food and drinks to purchase.
