What a fantastic place.
This beach house is absolute waterfront, with it’s own jetty, complete with outdoor dining facilities. The kitchen has everything you could need for both indoor and outdoor dining. 2 bathrooms and good size bedrooms. The area is very peaceful and feels safe. We also had the use of push bikes, snorkelling gear, kayaks and board games.Excellent laundry is attached to the property. The giant hammock that overhangs the water was a family favourite.
Willie was a great contact for taxi and day trips.
Located approx. 20 Km North of Luganville on Santo's East Coast Road. Positioned on the edge of protected bay the outlook from the property is stunning.
We (2 adults plus 2 kids) stayed in the beach house. It has a simple yet great design. There a re two bedrooms at both ends of the house connected by a generous living / kitchen area. The main bedroom has a king size bed and the kids bedroom and 2 singles and bunk bed (could accommodate 4 children). Both bedrooms have an ensuite. At the front of the house is a generous verandah that captures the afternoon breezes.
The house is completely screened and all rooms have ceiling fans. All windows are louvred allowing you to capture the breeze at night when sleeping. The kitchen is generous and has sufficient utensils for the keen cook. It has a large fridge so you can stock up as the nearest shops and market are in Luganville. Western groceries are expensive in Luganville. However, Luganville has a great market where cheap local produce can be acquired including some of the nicest pineapples I've tasted. Opposite the market is a butcher and the local beef is good and cheaper than Oz.
We stayed 8 nights and we ate out most evenings. There are some nearby resorts that you can eat at. The closest is Turtle Bay Lodge, which you can walk to. Others within close proximity include Sunrise Beach Resort and the Black Pearl (good pizza) but you need transport to get to these two.
The house is very well equipped with kayaks and stand up paddle boards. You can paddle to the Matevulu River and from there paddle up to a splendid blue hole. It is only a few kms from the sea but the water is completely fresh as the blue hole is fed fresh water from a spring.
The house also has a large laundry, a good range of snorkel gear and bikes. The laundry and bikes are utilised via an honesty box with suggested charges set out (the charges are fair and reasonable). There is also a mobile phone to be used if you don't have a local SIM.
Situated approx. midway up the East Coast Rd Turtle Bay Beach House is an excellent Santo base for exploring the attractions to the North (Champagne Beach, Port Olry) and South (Million Dollar Point, President Coolidge). The house is very comfortable and with the bay at you doorstep, breeze blowing through the palms its also just great place to hang out and chill if you just want to unwind.
We loved staying at Turtle Bay Beach House in Turtle Cottage. The accommodation is in a great location - as well as being in a prime spot to kayak to a blue hole - you can even see the sunrise over the sea from the bed! Access to town, other resorts for dinner is easy. The cottage itself is beautifully designed, with everything you could need, allowing for self-catering (with fresh food from the supermarket/market in town). Alex the host is very helpful, and along with Willie and his family made us feel very welcome, helping us with our day trips. Would love to stay again and highly recommend!
Beautifully presented with an exceptional host who could not do enough for us (even when things for us did not go according to plan!). This was a lovely location and cost included kayaks and snorkelling gear. One particular feature was the very comfortable outdoor furniture in the garden and on the jetty overlooking the water.
The complex was a quality construction with lovely use of Vanuatuan timber. There has been a lot of thought going into this.
Very nice cottage by the water. You have your little kicthen inside and a nice veranda with table and confy hammock. there are bbq facilities too.
Included you have use of kayaks and snorkel gear.
The host, Alex, is very helpful and friendly. He is the owner of Island time kayak which is worth a visit.
