We all enjoyed staying in Brittany for the first time, Langonnet well placed to visit various places such as Pont Aven where we had a lovely lunch . Concarneau easy to reach and parking a dream , roads were virtually empty which made driving so easy , Niki made us so welcome, nothing too much trouble to make our stay enjoyable, would love to return one day and would have no hesitation in recommending this place and the hosts . Thank you Niki
We spent Christmas and New Year in the Ancient Barn and found it to be a cosy home for a relaxed three-generation Christmas break (3 to 67 years old!). We kept the welcoming wood burner going throughout our stay - so lovely to come home to. We chilled out in the house, walked around the lake and took the children to the play area on a couple of days - just enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the barn’s rural location. No need to get in the car and rush out anywhere. Thank you Nikki and Miles for being such lovely hosts and for the beautiful Christmas tree. It was wonderful - the barn felt so atmospheric .. and Pere Noel visited too!! (Thank you.) It was a lovely place to spend a family Christmas... and the beds were really comfortable.
The Accommodation is awesome, with a homely feel as soon as you walk through the Door, Log burning Fire (if required) BBQ, Table tennis and the outdoor Heated pool which was the biggest hit with the children (aged 9,11,13,15) The location is Rural, perfect for a relaxing base. The town of Langonnet is a very pleasant walk (about 20-25 mins) and has a range of Shops (butchers, Bakers, TABAC, bars and even a Pizza Take-Away which opens Friday evening which works out great to avoid cooking when you are leaving Saturday morning).
Niki & Miles are great hosts, really Friendly and helpful too.
Saint Barbe Church is a must see (about 10 mins away) and I recommend the Rouge Beer in the adjacent Tavern after ringing the Bell. Langonnet Abbey is also great, Pontivy is a real medieval village and worth a Visit.
A little further but still close enough to visit and perfect for kids, are the beaches around Lorient, Branfere Animal Park, Kingoland and Carnac.
We can't praise the owners enough. They sent us detailed directions how to get there, most helpful. On arrival we were greeted by them,a lovely couple who had already left wine and fresh eggs for us but after making sure we were comfortable, returned with Jam, butter and homemade bread.
The Cottage was just as we had hoped for, set in a large secluded garden it was just perfect for the Grandchildren to play safely. But the icing on the cake was the pool, large and pleasantly warm, we all swam most days.
We all agreed it was a lovely cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it to other families.
My husband and I stayed in this wonderful barn conversion late September 2016.
Tastefully presented with good quality fixtures and fittings
Helpful pleasant but unobtrusive owners.
The pool is wonderful
