A keen diver I came to Beqa Lagoon for the famous shark dive, and I wasn't disappointed. I travelled with my Mum and stayed in one of the family rooms which had plenty of space, and the airconditioning was great, and we had a lovely view being elevated over the water.
This place is great to switch off to normal hectic life with no TV or radio's in your room or common areas. There is internet available at a cost however I had great phone & data reception so used that without a problem.
The food was great in the dining area however I struggled without snacks between meals not really being available even for purchase, which I didn't think about and with diving you get hungry.
Storm and all the diving team really looked after us. I never felt unsafe in the water even with the tiger sharks, which was fantastic. I can't recommend doing this trip highly enough for keen divers and photographers.
Mum had an asthma attack after our last dive getting onto the boat, and they got her on oxgyen and made sure she was OK.
A few tips. Don't bring yellow, white or pink fins, as you can't dive with the sharks with them. It would have been handy to know that before lugging them from Australia. If you want cash bring your own, there is no ATM, and bring snacks.
Thanks to all the staff for making our trip memorable. I hope these photo's help show off how beautiful it is for other travellers to make the trip.

Room Tip: The family rooms are at the far end of the resort, but it's not a long walk

Bula Vinaka Jenny...

For taking the time to write in TripAdvisor.

How is your mum ... please send her the Beqa teams best regards.

Many thanks for the great photos.

Its true when we shark dive we stay neutral as possible with the colour of our dive gear ..black is preferred..... as bright colours do attract, and become a curiosity for the sharks especially the tigers.

We have a great local team under the water and on the land. In the case of shark diving we have probably three of the best shark whisperers from the surrounding area.. Ratu Manoa, Koli, Tumasi... have a passion, and incredible respect for the sharks.

Recently one of our guests posted on U Tube .. 30 minutes plus following Koli, who was swimming with one of our larger Tiger friends, trying to remove a large fishing hook from its side.. There was no danger in this ... as he swam with the tiger gently holding on and slowly removing the offending piece of metal from the shark. Incredibly fascinating view.. but importantly a demonstration of the respect and ease our whisperers' and the tigers have together.

Also a point of interest to those who will join us this year ...and in 2019.. we only allow 22 divers max per shark dive (this creates a sable eating patter and again importantly avoids over abuse of the cathedral, and the surrounding bio diversity.... The Dives are rotated on Monday, Tuesdays, and Fridays each week. On our notice board you lodge your name on the preferred dive, and if its full, you move to the next dive times. We don't pre book Shark dives but you can upgrade your reef dive to shark dive if you wish. We reef dive 7 days a week baring nature and acts of god...and also offer the occasional night dive throughout the week.

Once again Jenny many many thanks for taking time out to comment on your visit.. we hope we have the opportunity to host you both again at Beqa Lagoon resort ... A big vinaka vakalevu to you both from all of team Beqa.

We just stayed for a week at the resort. Beach-front room with hammock and private outdoor hot tub was awesome! Delicious food with lots of variety, friendly staff let by an remarkable woman named Filo, relaxing atmosphere. But we came for the diving. First of all, snorkeling right off the beach was superb because there is a reef right there! Found (and returned) the largest living conch I'd ever seen just by snorkeling there. Storm, the fantastic guy who leads a talented team of divers, really set us up for wonderful dive experiences. Stunning shark experience where we felt remarkably safe. For the reef dives we were broken into smaller groups based on our experience level and the dive masters were superb at pointing out everything. Gun, one of the dive masters, even rescued my wife when her integrated weights broke free. Overall, everyone made every effort to make sure we had the wonderful experience that we indeed did (see attached photos). Thanks Filo, Storm, Gun, and the rest of the gang! Hope to be back someday...

Bula and Greetings LJ

Sorry we didn't get to know you on your visit but many thanks for your comments on our team .. which we have passed on.

You experienced some great diving and the photos are amazing thanks for posting them.

We have 10 top reef dives throughout the Large Beqa reef area, which also includes some of the best soft coral in the world, notwithstanding a great shipwreck dive as well, and of course the three times a week shark dive.

The Beqa dive team which is eventually local are so familiar with the area that the ease, safety and comfort of the dives are well assured.

Once again thank you so much for the wonderful comments, and the photographs.. we hope we have the privilege of hosting you both again soon. Vinaka Vakalevu from all of team Beqa

BLR was just beautiful. Wayne and his wonderful team went out of their way to make us happy and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are comfy and clean, the staff are kind and welcoming. With Beqa, you get the luxury of a resort with the cultural insights of a more intrepid holiday. Villages are just down the track, and the more adventurous guests can get their fix with great tours and trips. The food is excellent too! We will be back. :)

Bula and greetings Benjasari..

Many thanks for your generous comment .. short and straight to the point !!

Really loved that you got into the Beqa adventure side... so many guests think we just dive ... But hey .. Waterfall, kayaking, village visits, trecks, animals flora and forna, island visits, and even shopping is Suva if you want a day out.

We have daily programs at the resort itself .. but for the more intrepid we host a variety of adventures that any intrepid explorer would be more than satisfied with.

Once again thank you for taking the time to comment on TripAdvisor.. and we hope to see you both again soon... A big vinaka vakulevu from all of team Beqa.

My family of four spent a wonderful week here in January and left feeling revitalised and happy. The burres are really charming and the gardens are lush and well established. It's not a faceless five-star business that could be anywhere in the world. The staff were warm and very friendly, obviously liking their jobs; the food was delicious; the entertainment was interesting; and the snorkelling on the coral reef, 50 metres from the shore, was exceptional. We'd happily go back.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, get a room with an ocean view.

Bula Vinaka Kim...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write in TripAdvisor.

Great comments Vinaka... Often people look at us as a Dive Resort .. which indeed is true, but we are lucky enough to have one of the best island adventures on land as well as in the water all round the island itself.

We went on a walk around the island last week going right around the top end then crossing over the crescent of a hill back to the resort side ending back in the neighbouring village of Rukua. We saw just of the shoreline turtles, small skols of fish jumping the tides, small snakes ... yes ... not poison very friendly to play with.. birdlife we can't begin to describe, the colours and sounds, tropical insects of various sizes, and type, some of the most amazing flora and forna, medicinal, or just purely wild and beutiful, farm lots.... belonging to the locals, with root vegetable crops, and of course yaqona..(kava).... the best was the pied piper effect we had on the children who followed us to the edge of the village laughing and calling out bula.. how are you ... my name is ... and laughter so much laughter.... This is the Beqa we know, and we are so happy that you shared you holiday time to experience a little of it, and look forward to showing you more it we are lucky enough to host you again... in the not to distant future.

A big vinaka vakalevu to you all for you comments... from all of team Beqa.

We stayed for 5 nights and could've easily stayed for a month. The team are exceptional, very warm and accommodating. I left my glasses on the mainland and had them brought across first thing the next morning which was really easy to organise. The food is exceptional with three course dinners, fresh omelettes and eggs along with fresh fruit. The bar boasts reasonable drink prices, and most of all the resort is staffed by a great team from local communities on Beqa Island.

We all spent some money at the spa and were blown away by the staff and quality of the massages and treatments. Special mentions to Filo, Vasiti, Sai, and the entire team who really made our stay so incredible. The resort offers free kayaks that we used to paddle out for sunset drinks in the ocean which is also highly recommended.

The house reef is really healthy and worth a few hours of snorkeling along with the diving and soft corals being incredible. Beachfront rooms also have a plunge pool that is great in the afternoon. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Beachfront bures have a plunge pool which are great
