“Superb location. Spacious and comfortable accommodation.”
Reviewed 5 November 2012 for a stay in September 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Balorrin. The location is really lovely. From the outside, Balorrin is unprepossessing but inside it is comfortable and well equipped. The double bedroom has an en suite and quite quirkily has a conservatory attached. The other bedrooms are roomy and there is plenty of wardrobe space. The wood burning stove in the living area is really cosy. We loved it. The mountain bikes were a great bonus as was the table tennis table in the garage. Behind the cottage is birch forest and beyond that - access to the river at a place where the salmon can be seen battling their way upstream. We watched them in amazement as they refused to be defeated by seemingly insurmountable hurdles. It was certainly a life-lesson to never give up. Nearby is the Glen Ord distillery which allowed us to sample its excellent produce. Muir of Ord and Beauly are worth a visit and of course Dingwall. We drove to Dornoch and loved it. The Castle is now a gorgeous hotel where the Masterchef hosts were staying - (no pressure on the chef there then!!!)
We would be happy to recommend people to stay at Balorrin. The only one thing that would have improved our visit would have been internet access. Wi-fi was not available and 3G seems not to cover the area either - so we were a bit frustrated by that. However, there were so many positives about Balorrin, it would be a shame to let that overshadow the great time we had.

Balorrin was an ideal property that is spacious and well equipped. It is extremely cosy. The views are stunning and there are delightful walks from the front door. It is extremely peaceful. Sitting in the lounge watching the birds on the feeders was hugley entertaining. The table tennis table in the garage was great fun. There are even 2 bikes to use. One great thing was that TESCO deliver - saved us loads of time. We look forward to going again. There ios lots to see and do in the area. I recommend dolphin watching from Channery Point nearby. If you want a quiet place but with lots to do Balorrin is for you.
