Thank you Tracey and Tom for a wonderful stay at Corra Cottage. The best part of my stay was lying in front of the fire with a big glass of wine and the newspaper - pure relaxation. I enjoyed plenty of scenic drives and spotting a pheasant or two along the way as well as all the cows, sheep and horses. Castle Douglas has plenty of amenities including a couple of excellent butchers - where we picked up a delicious picnic of local delicacies at a very reasonable price - and Irving's Bakery (the Empire biscuits mustn't be missed!). The Loch is worth a wander to blow the cobwebs away.
My wife drove out to Wigtown to explore the secondhand bookshops and said the views were spectacular.
I hope we can come back again one day.
What a memorable holiday we've had in Castle Douglas. We've found Corra Cottage to be an extremely comfortable, cosy and pleasant place to stay - in fact, our young family had the best night's sleep we've collectively ever had, with no one rising until almost 8am thanks to the fluffy pillows, comfy beds and peace and quiet. The cottage is very family-friendly, especially the large bathroom (with bath and shower), well-equipped kitchen and toy cupboard. Castle Douglas is a great base to explore the local area and we especially loved the Cocoa Bean (a sort of Scottish Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where our children made delicious chocolate bars and other goodies). The walk between Kippford and Rockcliffe was great fun, and we found lots of shells along the way.
We will miss seeing the friendly faces of the sheep in the morning and gazing out over more than 200 acres of spectacular green countryside. I have no hesitation in recommending Corra Cottage to others. Thank you!
