1 review I recently stayed at Penkiln Cottage with two friends and we all had a great stay. The property it's self is spacious and has all the amenities needed; there is also plenty to do near to the property with a fishing lake on the farm and Galloway Forrest down the road. Mark and Diane went above and beyond in terms of service, trying to help out when our car broke down and the home made jam is delicious! We are already planning our next stay and would 100% recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed at Penkiln Cottage for 5 nights with my husband and our 9 and 11 year old kids, plus our family dog Spot. We had a very warm welcome and Mark and Diane are just lovely. We were shown around the cottage and the farm and felt very relaxed and welcomed. The cottage is superb. Spotless, everything you could think of needing, comfortable beds, lovely enclosed garden (great for a dog) and safe for children to play in too. The surrounding farm and views are lovely. We especially enjoyed the walk through the field of sheep and around the fishing loch. We took the longer walk along and through Knockmann wood too which is well worth the effort. Mossyard bay beach is a 20min drive and stunning. Remember £2 for parking all day. It is perfect for the kids as it is sandy and pretty safe. My eldest loved rock climbing there. Creetown is near and on a rainy afternoon we visited the Gem Museum. Great value for money and the kids (and us) loved it! The kids really enjoyed feeding Barbara the pig some leftovers on the farm.
All in all an excellent holiday in a lovely location and excellent accomodation! Oh and thanks for the jam and extras and milk. Wonderful! xx
