“harry potter filmed in the cloisters.”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

A good day spent looking around the abbey house (was a nunery many years ago- and then owned by the Talbot family) - These buildings were used for a Harry Potter film and also Pride and Prejudice. The Talbot Photography Museum on the same site was very interesting and informative. The village of Lacock was very picturesque but unfortunately (they have to park somewhere) the residents cars stopped you from photgraphing them showing there quaintness.
Cranford was filmed in this village.
Plenty of craft shops, a village post office and others.

“Good Value National Trust experience -near Bath”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

We were on our way from Bath and called in at Lacock for a break. In spite of the freezing weather, we stayed on and not only walked through the picturesque village, also had pub lunch, bought bread in bakery, visited Fox Talbot museum and looked round the Abbey. With the exception of the pub lunch and bread, everything else included in our N Trust membership, Very friendly staff, well presented property. Unique film and TV associations: Cranford, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter and probably others beside. If you are visiting Bath, this is a good extra attraction within reasonable distance.

“Like a time capsule”
Reviewed 6 April 2013

Visited on a bitterly cold Sunday in March, so it was relatively quiet in both the house and village - could imagine it getting very busy in season. The house and its history and the village are very interesting and not just for their film and tv (Harry Potter and Cranford) credentials. You can easily spend a whole day here as there's so much to see. Plenty of places in the village to eat and drink, though the National Trust tearoom is under-sized for the number of visitors. Good to find a National Trust property open so early in the year.

“Scenic village”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

The Lacock Village owned by the National Trust, is a place full of history and character. It's a experience and pleasure to wander around in the entire village. Many places are worth exploring like The High Street, Abbey, Bakery, The Fox Talbot Museum etc. One should take a leisurely walk through the village to experience tranquility of the place.

“Interesting historic property in picturesque village”
Reviewed 2 April 2013

We spent a couple of hours looking round the abbey. Quite impressive cloisters - recognisable from the Harry Potter films! Look for the sugar cube on the goat's nose in the great hall ;-) There are some lovely shops in the village - crafts, pottery, tea rooms etc - and you can easily spend time just mooching around the old streets.
