Where to begin? The location is just marvellous if you like to stroll or walk or take it all a bit more seriously then this region has it all. On the border of Wales and England it is a rural delight to enjoy. Arden House itself is situated at the gateway to the Cardingmill Valley which is National Trust. If you're a member entry is free if you're not, then why not? You can join whilst you're there!
So onto Arden House. It's a lovely house with large rooms down stairs, and three ensuite. All the facilities and furnishings are top class and all is very warm and comfortable. You feel like you are relaxed the minute you walk in through the front door into the fabulous entrance hall complete with wooden panels and an imposing fireplace and staircase. This is the place to have your photos taken once you are dressed for a night out in Church Stretton or beyond.
There are loads of places to eat, drink and be merry in the town too many to list but you know what? Just ask your hosts and they will give you as much advice as you need, they even booked 'loads' for us in advance.
And, this is what makes going there very different to other places you may choose to go in your lives. You can sit back relax even before you get there and have it all done for you!
Nothing and I mean nothing is too much trouble or effort for the whole team running Arden House. There was a group of ten of us, they had arranged a place for us to eat on the day of arrival, booked a self catering lodge (beautiful too) in the valley as an overflow for our party to stay, tea on arrival, breakfast to die for and pleasant company all weekend. Our own wine was not just left but refrigerated or placed in a wine rack for our convenience and enjoyment. We were given advice on pubs, on walks, on what to see and enjoy locally, all based on an excellent local knowledge with no agenda or pushiness just because that is what they do and do so very well.
I have left the best until last.
As I said a group of 10 and we wanted someway to celebrate on the second night. We wanted something special and boy did we get it. This was their suggestion to us and it seemed perfect and it was!
A local (Brazillian as it transpired) chef was subcontracted to cook a three course meal for us all from a couple of preset menus with loads of choice and flexibility and vegetarian options all included. All we had to do was sit down, be served in an extremely friendly and informal manner yet fantastically relaxing and stressless way. Eat, drink and be merry, oh yes.
The food was excellent and all freshly prepared and well presented. You need not have to go out, this was all enjoyed in the comfort of Arden House itself, perfect.
You see in this country (the UK) we have a terrible record for customer service, but at Arden House this record is smashed into smithereens. The team are absolutley 100% dedicated to excellent customer service and intelligently delivered it is an absolute joy to receive.
I simply cannot recommend this venue highly enough. Without doubt one, if not the best, venue for a quiet couples weekend or a rowdy friends and family weekend one you will never forget and one you will find yourself wanting more of and coming back again and I expect again and again.
It is no wonder they have been rated as all excellent on Trip Advisor reviews as that is what they are and what they deserve to be rated, nothing less.
