“Wish I was there now!”

I loved this cottage: it is so beautiful and cosy I wish I was there now. It has been decorated to a high standard but not so you feel like you can't touch anything. We had a very warm welcome from owner and just loved the little community. The art shop, small shop and two pubs hold a sense of magic to them. We were worried about the parking but once you get there you see why cars are parked in car park at the top of the hill. Future guests do not let this put you off, it is not far! I love to return for a longer stay and just lock myself in side because it's just wonderful.

Management Response

We are so glad you love Dunsley! And we're very sorry, we can't magic the fire to the living room! But there is a very efficient digital radiator up there, and a cosy fleece blanket for cuddling up on the sofa. We now provide coal supplies throughout winter so you can make the most of the fire when you're downstairs, tucked up on the comfortable sofa, listening to the CD sound system, with a glass of wine in your hand...

Really was as lovely as it looks in the photos! We were not disappointed in anything - all kitted out very well with all that you need to do as little or as much as you want to do. It is great to use as a base for exploring but also just to relax in. The top room attic is wonderful to relax in, read etc or to watch the world go by (or for us the snow come and go!). There is a fire in the kitchen to keep you warm whilst cooking, the shower is wonderful and Staithes itself is charming (recommend late night walks around the seafront and narrow alleyways!).
There is parking outside for 40mins and then you need to park up in the top part of the village which is about a 5-10 min walk and the house is on 3 levels so your mobility needs to be good.
For a couple this really is a great get away place and I thoroughly would recommend it.
P.S the seagulls weren't that noisy!
P.P.S Take CDs in case you can't get radio reception for the stereo in the kitchen!

“Great cottage to stay in”
Reviewed 2 March 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Dunsley cottage was everything it said it would be. Spotlessly clean, very well equiped, light and airy but lovely and warm for the cold February weather. Would certainly recommend a stay there.

“Beautiful quaint cottage”
Reviewed 23 December 2012 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed here on a cold grey weekend which was a good choice as this cottage is a lovely place to stay. Really comfy bed with quality bedding provides a sound nights sleep. The living room is really snug and cosy, perfect for cuddling down with a glass of red. The kitchen has everything you need, we even cooked a roast on the Sunday with a lovely joint of beef from the local butcher. We also ate at the cod and lobster which wasn't bad, but nothing to shout about either, unlike the fox and hounds at dale side where I had the best steak pie I've ever tasted, well worth the walk. Ideally placed for a walk to Runswick bay where you can sample a lunch at the hotel and if feeling lazy get the bus back. All in all a lovely weekend where you don't have to rely on the weather the enjoy. First class accom with attention to detail and attentive friendly service from a lovely owner.
