“Cosy cottage with great location”
Reviewed 10 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Our second visit to Coastguard cottage, well equipped, loved the kitchen breakfast room in the basement and the log burner in the lounge. Double bed is so comfy, handy for the harbour and pubs, Royal George is just round the corner and a couple of minutes more to the Cod and Lobster & harbour. Enjoyed the cliff top walk to Port Mulgrave where we had lovely tea & cake at the Ship Inn coffee shop

Great to welcome you back again Dave, and now I trust the new mattress will make the big bed even more comfy - I certainly think it is. Hope you had a lovely celebration weekend.

“A Beautiful Small Village, and a Superb Quirky Cottage”
Reviewed 2 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

As a family we struggle to get one night away, due to us working shifts. And this week last minute we decided to try and get away for one night. However when we found Staithes we found property available, however all had minimum three night stays only. This was no good for us, so I asked the question of the owners and Thankfully Andy accepted our request for a Saturday night stay.

There were 6 of us in our family 2 kids and 2 of the inlaws, and we found the cottage to be more than adequate for our purposes. The kitchen in the cottage is in the cellar and very quirky, but it is the true heart of the house. The big plus of the trip was that the kitchen (and property) was kitted out with so much stuff, even though we forgot many things, the cottage had everything we needed and more. Where else would you find a slow cooker, every glass and plate and bowl you would ever need and more than you would manage to have in people staying. Plus basics in coffee/tea oil etc, it was superb. the cottage was very clean, had a Playstation 3 in the room which the kids' appreciated. What the description does not tell you is the cottage has 10 or so PS 3 games there as well, as well as a selection of DVD's and books and games there for the users of the cottage to use.

It was a very cold night we had, but it is November, and there is a wood burner in the living room, and a small selection of wood for the burner to use on arrival which lasted around 3 hrs, and also 2 oil radiators in the property. So if your used to Central Heating, bring a jumper.

All in all this was a cottage which I would go back to tomorrow, it was superb, and this does not take into account the beautiful village in which it is stood, there are two pubs on the doorstep and a coffee shop as well, the food in each was superb. We had a great weekend, and even though we only had one night available to go away, we felt we had been away and had a good break.

“Well equipped in a great location”
Reviewed 14 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Had a wonderful stay over the bank holiday weekend in this extremely well equipped cottage. There is no parking in Staithes old town, however there is a 40 minutes loading bay directly outside the property, with the property including a parking permit for the car park at the top of the hill. The property was lovely and clean, and with bedding and towels all included - and a washing machine if we needed - it truly was a hassle free holiday! Andy the owner was fantastic from start to finish, and I knew that if we had any issues at all (we didn't! ) then he would have been on hand to sort it out at the drop of a hat.
The location itself is on the high street and so you are no more than a few minutes walk from all the lovely facilities that Staithes had to offer - including the local pub! The bistro on the corner does amazing seafood and the staff are lovely, Dotties tea shop does fantastic cakes but be prepared for a long wait! We had the obligatory fish and chips in Whitby and went on the steam train to Goathland. Otherwise we mostly stayed in Staithes, digging holes in the sand, going crabbing and enjoying the odd drink in the 2 local pubs - the George is cosy and friendly and the cod and lobster has the best location. The only thing missing from the cottage was somewhere to sit out as we were blessed with nice weather, however being surrounded by so many amenities it was only a small niggle. Thanks for having us Coastguards and Andy - we'll be back!

Many thanks for the detailed response Helen, it really helps other guests know what the cottage and Staithes are about. We're so chuffed that you loved your stay, and the proof of the pudding for us is that you'll join a growing list of guests who return to us again.
Many thanks for your custom and for treating Coastguards like your own home.
Warm regards,

Andy
