This is a private collection outlining the magnificent geological history of the area and postulating what the locality might have been like in previous times. In all honesty it is a bit faded and could do with smartening up, but if you are in Lyme Regis with kids and it is raining, you have to have something to do. It is set over two floors, and has some rather random things, like a natural history room full of rather sad stuffed animals. The section on the fossils and the history of the area is much better. Upstairs is a walk through the different geological time periods. I guess this is a decent way to spend an hour when the weather is not good.

Had choice between local (funded) museum, or this private museum and glad we chose to visit here. Situated in a former church/chapel, they literally have thousands of artifacts on display, which means it can be a squeeze if busy. Clearly separated into various sections, and run by someone who clearly loves his job, it is well worth a visit. You can also pick up fossils etc that fit your budget. Kids enjoyed the puzzle trail and get a prize for completing it too!

This is your typical small town museum that you get along the Jurassic Coast. It's run by some wonderfully friendly experts and has thousands of interesting exhibits in the grade 1 listed building. There is plenty to keep children entertained and even my wife and I spent about an hour looking around and learning. It is very cheap to get into so definitely worth a visit if your children (or you) love dinosaurs and want to find out more about the history of Lyme Regis and the surrounding coast. It's walking distance from the town centre easily and there are some car parks nearby.

What a fantastic little find. My wife and I were so surprised at the amount of exhibits incorporating so many aspects of natural history. There are skeletons, stuffed animals and fossils by the shed load with some impressive specimens.
The shop has fossils for sale that suit all pockets and the member of staff was talkative and friendly. All ages would love this and at only a fiver each to get in I think is a bargain.
