We came for a day out to the beach on bank holiday Monday. We found this on google, we read about the £3 parking fee (due to being on farmers land) and was nearly put off going. But we decided to give it a try and we are so glad we did! We go to many beaches around Scotland and this has to be in my top three! It was fairly quiet, just other families with picnics and bbqs. We took everything we needed as there isn’t anything around other than toilets at the car park. The sand is soft and the sea is so clear and calm it’s brilliant for children. Not many rocks or shells just sandy beach and turquoise water. The views are wonderful of the ruin castle nearby, the famous cliff/rockery and bass rock and it’s lighthouse in front. Great for watching bird life, lots of gannets diving for fish. It’s very clean and peaceful. We will visit here again and again. Lovely rock pools, we found fish, starfish, crabs and even a lobster that I’m assuming the fishermen left behind as it was dead but great for the kids to see up and close. Lots of people swimming, paddling, little boats and kayaks. A brilliant day out - easy to find with satnav - well posted.
