The most spectacular thing about this villa is the location, amazing mountain and sea views but also masses of free roaming wildlife on the doorstep: cows, goat, donkeys, mules, ponies, chickens, dogs... amid glorious rolling countryside. Yet, it is just minutes off the main coastal route. The modern design of the villa and its layout, with nice touches and features, was ideal for our group of 5 adults and our pet dogs. The only slight disappointment was the low grade quality of the bedding, towels and kitchen equipment, which for the type of house was unexpected so I suggest if you like fluffy towels and crisp white sheets, you bring your own. The owner Domingo is friendly and helpful, available by mobile should you need any information, and during our week he came to clean the pool and tend the garden without being the least bit intrusive. It would be useful to have a spade available to clear the rural pathway of dung when entering and leaving the property, we had to use sticks found lying around. Overall, this was a special place to stay and I was missing this rural idyll once home, even though I live surrounded by countryside in another part of Spain. It is a great place to chill and is also close to the fabulous beaches of Bolonia, Zahara and the town of Tarifa.

The house is nicely renovated and has a modern, well equiped interior, all on one level, and a very nice backyard with a pool. The kids spent endless hours in the pool, and so did I.
Strangely, there is no airconditioning, but it turns out it is not needed! Despite the fact that this is the Southernmost place in Spain, it does not get very hot there, and the houses are built with stones that seem to prevent heat from building up. I lived in Kentucky for 11 years, so I appreciate AC, but it was not needed in this nice house. The house is in a very quiet small hamlet of a nice little town called Facinas. There are some small grocery stores in Facinas, and some very good restaurants. The house is situated near a nature reserve and you will find some cows, horses, donkeys and chicken roaming the neighborhood. We loved this, being from a city! It is remote, so you can enjoy a starry sky at night, yet Facinas is near if you need groceries and Tarifa is not far either. I hiked to Facinas one evening (~1h) via the mountain path backing the house and enjoyed some spectacular views, including views from Africa across the strait.
The main road to Tarifa to the East and Vejer de la Frontera ( a MUST) and Cadiz (1h, also fantastic) to the West is at a 5 min drive from the house. Paloma beach and Valdevaqueros beach are about 15 minutes away and are a paradise for windsurfing (I spent 10 out of 20 days on the water, the Wind was fantastic) or kitesurfing (not my cup of tea). In my 25+ years of windsuring, I have never experienced anything like this. The Wind can be a bit strong around the hosue, but it did not bother us, and it helps keep the tempterature down. There are other beaches further West, such as Zahara and Atlanterra, both Worth a visit (~30 mins), and less exposed to the Wind.
The owners are very kind and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to be able to come back, maybe even next summer. We wanted a nice comfortable and quiet home in a beautiful region with culture, great food, beaches, nature, and windsurfing opportunities, and we got what we wanted. Highly recommended!
