2nd visit in as many years and learned from last time not too eat there, even breakfast. Great location with good views of the beach and just far enough out of town for a steady stroll in most days, good bars at the top of the road but will stay somewhere else next time.
Found the reception staff clueless with any question you asked them, but all in all we got what we paid for!!
The rooms were clean and the bedding changed 3 times in 9 days.

Room Tip: 4th floor good views

We read some negative reviews prior to our trip and were a bit concerned . However ours was a very pleasant stay . Firstly we had a sea view room 134 (main hotel building overlooking beach) and would recommend this to all thinking of staying here . The location is excellent with 10 min walk / stroll to the main part of Nerja (Balcon de Europe) . Plenty tapas bars / restaurants / bars enroute to the square . I would recommend b & b if you stay as great places to have your evening meals are throughout Nerja . The breakfast is fine by me . Cereals / Fruit / Yoghurt / Cold meats / Cheese etc and hot dishes . Plenty coffee / tea / fruit juice rolls and pastries etc . Anyone finding fault with that selection really has a slate loose . The room we had was perfectly acceptable , clean , tidy and the maids did a great job each day . Yes its an older hotel and not up to modern spec and slightly tired / worn but how long do you spend in room apart from sleeping ? 2 pools available and we used the roof top pool in the second building as it was quieter and easier to get sunbeds . Pool was great as was view from roof . The outdoor restaurant / snack bar at front next to beach served nice food at a reasonable price . The hotel has courtesy rooms for a shower etc if your flight home is later in the evening and these are first class . Hope this alleviates any doubts folk have . I would return on a b&b basis no question .

Room Tip: Get sea view if you can

Make sure when u book this one than its verified which section you’re in. There is the hotel and and the the apartments which some face the water , others the street. Same with the hotel section. The hotel flags are horrible old and torn.
The apts only get linen changed and is cleaned every 3 days. They are not as well maintained as the hotel rooms. Furniture and appliances are old but do work. We were in a 2 room and 2 bathroom one that faced the ocean, only steps away. Sevice is good, but front desk staff are professional but not friendly. However good loacation close to all especially the restaurants and the broadwalk. However, don’t think I will stay here again.

We recently stayed at this Hotel which is very well situated Being in walkable distance to the lively Balcon area with interesting shops and all types of restaurants.
That's the best bit from there it's down hill in the hotel the decor of the hotel is tired and outdated . The bedrooms are clean but from the eighties.
The staff were very pleasant apart from the reception which reminded me of a British Doctor's reception and the management was awfull. But saving the best or should I say worst the food wa awful breakfast was just about edible but dinner was inedible.
To sum up ok if you just want a room to stay in but that's that.

Having read both negative and positive reviews I wasn't going to do a review but in view of recent very negative ones I feel I have to give my views to assure people still going on holiday of the positive aspects of this hotel. (Stayed May 19-26, b&b) As most agree, the location is superb, especially if you are in the main seafront block, literally steps down to the promenade which runs for quite a distance linking the different bays and beaches of Nerja. They are kept immaculate as those on 'the dole' spend 6 weeks on/off doing community cleaning - a great scheme.

There has been a lot of criticism about the bedrooms - I think it is the luck of the draw as I saw some beautiful seafront bedrooms with balconies. Our room in the main block for 2 was actually a triple (226) so very spacious more like a studio, 2 Juliet balconies, looking out to a little park area beside the second block, mountain views in the background. Had no problem with the beds, all had new mattresses and one wall had new double mirror Sliderobes. Large bathroom, good hairdryer, towels changed daily, everywhere spotless. Fridge was a great asset and barmen readily provided large plastic glasses of ice to bring to the room. I'll agree that reception are not the most friendly staff, and an information sheet should be given on arrival as we had trouble locating the lights (operated by room card key) as it was pitch dark. I brought a travel kettle for tea/coffee. Air conditioning worked well, no noise at all or from adjoining rooms.

Breakfasts served in second block had a huge variety of breads, fruits - fresh pineapple, melon, apples, bananas, pears - cheeses, salami, ham, pate - in additional to a hot buffet of bacon strips, tomatoes, small sausages, pancakes, waffles, eggs both scrambled and fried, baked beans. To cater for the sweet tooth there were crossants, pain de chocolate, fruit cake, biscuits, jams and honey. Staff were exceptional in clearing tables quickly and fresh tablecloth for next person. When in this block don't miss taking the lift to the 5th floor to see the rooftop pool with breathtaking views.

I think this hotel suits the more mature person and was ideal for bed and breakfast. There are many places to eat in the evening at very reasonable prices. Don't expect 4star or a modern hotel and hopefully you'll be surprised if you think it's like some of the awful reviews. The only smell is from cleaning materials and bleach, it's spotless and that means a lot.
