Stayed at the Yaramar for Christmas and the New Year ,arriving on 19th Dec.
This hotel is spotless and the Staff are second to none but I cannot recommend the food.
Basic things like soup were obviously the cheapest powdered variety and most of the main ingredients on offer were of poor quality. However this did not deter many of the returning guests from piling up their plates with mountains of this canteen type fare.
The Gala dinner on Christmas Day was dreadful , thick tasteless soup , strong fish hidden in a sauce and catering slices of turkey ,far removed from a real bird., this was accompanied by some very tired looking veg and half roasted potatoes. There was however plenty of very nice wine and the staff were absolutely first class and entered into the spirit of things. New year Gala dinner was much of the same.
Entertainment was excellent in the evenings but the daytime activities were monopolised by the "we've been coming here for the last 10 year brigade".
The age group was as expected , the older end of the scale, but we met some fantastic and inspiring people. If you like good quality food , forget this hotel, it lets down the excellent service from the staff .

Dear guest, we are sorry to read that you did not enjoy the food at our hotel. It is always a challenge to cater to everyones taste, specially on special occassions like Christmas when family recipes always have our expectations high. Our chef cooks Mediterranean and British cuisine in order to meet both traditions and give you a buffet with a wide variety to choose from. We thank you for your compliments to our staff and for your comments which push us more towards our goal of continuous improvement.

Spent New Year at this hotel, a wonderful experience everything was perfect. We had booked a superior room and this was excellent between 25 & 30 foot long with full length pictures windows overlooking the beach, provided with champagne, fruit and flowers on arrival. The food in the hotel was exscellent and the New Year gala dinner was out of this world could not praise it enough. Great entertainment provided by the Thomson team and with Happy hour lasting to 22.00 the bar was excellent. All in all a great holiday we will be going back there again

Arrived Xmas eve. Check in smooth and efficient. We were informed that restaurant would be closing 1 hour early due to staff celebrating their Xmas that night. No problem. Had room on 6th floor overlooking beach. Room was clean and tidy with maid service everyday. Free use of safe which is unusual in Spain, but room fridge cost 16 euros to hire for a week. Staff were all excellent and friendly, especially in dining room. Xmas day dinner was lovely, but apart from that the food was nothing special, just the same as in any other half board hotel in Spain. The evening entertainment in the downstairs bar was excellent. Although it was only the Thomson Gold team they could not have put on better shows if they tried. Joff and Danny in particular have magnificent voices. There was music and dancing in the patio bar each evening as well for those 70 plus.
Although the hotel was nearly full we hardly saw another sole in the daytime.
Although the hotel is lovely the area is not, with dog mess and looky looky's everywhere, and more run down and derelict buildings than I have seen in any other part of Spain. So, once again nice hotel , not nice area, and if you are under 70 don't got to hotel at this time of year

Decided to spent Christmas here ...I was not disappointed.Staff remembered me(this is always nice), The gala meal was exceptional as was the Boxing Day Cocktail party, caviare was in abundance amongst the various canape along with champagne and wine!. The regular food was on the whole acceptable with the exception of the over cooked and inferior quality sausages together with the eggs that were generally hard and unappetising.Champagne was available every morning if one so wished to imbibe! All together a super week, with good company ..would liked to have stayed for the New Year! The hotel is showing its age however and is in need of a refurbishment especially in the bathroom where the shower is only just adequate.
