“Heaven... Amazing Place felt I was in Heaven”
Reviewed 26 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A large group of friends (aged 40 - 50 including 2 couples) stayed at Walnut Farm for a week. I stayed in Casa Rosa with but both 'fincas' - like cottage/villas are just so beautiful and perfect holiday rentals with eveything you could need. So comfortable, clean and well maintained. Two separate en-suite rooms suited us great. We all had such a great time, sunbathing, swimming etc , the pool is amazing and heated during May when we stayed. Ive stayed in places in Spain several times before and it was impossible to swim in an unheated pool. This was just so different and lilos and pool play stuff even provided! Many nights were spent just wining and dining at night under the stars, barbequeing and playing games and cards etc. We all laughed ourselves silly! We visited the the Alhambra Palace in Granada and the amazing cathedral in Cordoba.

The owners of walnut Farm provided fantastic directions and instructions well in advance . They met us with keys etc and had lots of tips and a great informatin book in each house. We enjoyed the 2 beaches nearby, had tapas in Antequera several times but there are also 3 restaurants very near to Walnut Farm - either 2 minutes by car or a long stroll which all have 'Menu Del Dia' - a 3 course meal including bread and a drink for just €10!! Great food and we all tried a bit of whatever was on that day. I'm a big bottled water drinker in the UK - so I was amazed to be able to use the 2 free mountain springs nearby to replenish our water bottles with cold fresh mountain water FREE every day. A week was not enough. We are going to return next year as many of the other reviewers seem to have done :)

“A fabulous gem in the heart of Andalucia - fab villa, fab pool, fab location”
Reviewed 20 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

A fabulous gem in the heart of Andalucia - fab villa, fab pool, fab location. We visited friends who were staying in the other villa Casa Rosa and had such an amazing time. 8 of us in total. We have been to Walnut Farm twice before and just love returning to this very special place. Casa Marguerita is traditional and authentic with beamed ceilings but very modern inside with everything you will need. The owners have thought of everything - even down to : fresh water bottles at the side of the bed, beautiful crisp white linen sheets and separate towels provided for the house and the gorgeous pool, a great instruction/information book, where to go/what to do information, first aid kits, bathroom hand soap, every utensil and equipment needed in the kitchens, torches, etc etc....

The house was immaculate and very clean upon arrival and smelled beautiful too. We met the owners this time too - Janet and Peter who were a delight and couldn't do enough to help/advise.

The main bathroom with HUGE corner bath in Casa Marguerita (and shower) is a delight to soak in after a days sightseeing in Cordobo or Granada or just after a lazy hot day around the pool, as it was vstill hot until gone 7pm at night. Casa Rosa, the otehr villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 separate en-suite bathrooms which was great because our friends could get showered / bathed ready at the same time as the rest of us in Casa Marguerita.

The garden areas and flower pots etc are all kept beautiful and full of colour. We love gardening in the UK so we could see what effort has gone into the gardens here. The surrounding fields and pathways were just bursting in May with stunning colourful wild flowers and some fields were full of red wild poppies. What a sight that was with pure white horses grazing in them.

I'm a keen cyclist and brought my bike here this time. I cycled every other day with many fabulous routes and on the final day cycled to the top of El Torcal whic was a truly fantastic experience.

We ate out in Antequera some nights and had BBQs at Walnut Farm some nights on the 3 lovely patios/pergolas. At t night there is no light pollution so the sky is full of miilions of stars and you hear birds and the occasional frog croaking. Just idyllic. This is followed by the best sleep ever... and then you wake to the beautiful dawn chorus of birds in the garden each morning and then breakfast al fresco all over again.....We love it here. And to top it all there is great wifi that you don't often get with semi rural or rural properties.
What a delight! We are coming back this time in 2017 for sure. We cannot recommend this place enough.

“Excellent location, beautiful pool, very relaxing”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

A great location, excellent place to base yourself should you wish to do any sightseeing. The pool was really lovely, great for cooling off in as the weather was vey warm. Plenty of wildlife, we saw a herd of deer one morning as we walked the country track, from the accommodation, with lovely views of the mountains.
We will endeavour to return, would be excellent choice to bring family and friends as of course there are two fincas.

“love this place!”
Reviewed 11 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Wow ! We visited Walnut Farm with a group of friends and found both houses : Casa Marguerita and Casa Rosa to be a delight. Very clean indeed, very well equipped and eveything was just perfect. Both pergolas/patios for eating out are lovely and overlook the stunning large pool and mountain views. Great outdoor BBQs and the scenery is stunning. The accommodation was delightfull and comfortable with everything we needed. Location is very central for sightseeing to Cordoba and Malaga and Granada etc. Antequera as a town is really lovely with lots of great shops, bars and restaurants and amazing churches and a castle. We loved Malaga as a city too for culture and the plaza and the beach too was superb, all just 30 minutes away. We met the owners of Walnut Farm who greeted us and gave us so many tips. Great information book in each villa and they have thoiuht of everything to make for a great stay! A real gem in the centre of Andalucia. Thanks :)

“Lovely quiet location apart from birdsong :)”
Reviewed 2 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We were looking for somewhere like this for a mini break when a flyer came through on e-mail. The dates matched our requirements so we got in touch straight away - the response from the owners was timely and was kept informed at all stages of the booking process.

We were arriving on a Sunday, so with shops shut, the proprietor had arranged some provisions for us which was most welcome.

We were given copious notes on how to get to the Finca but only really needed the stuff at the final stage as it was 'off-track'. What we found was delightful with Peter and Janet there to greet us. It was a shame about the weather, another couple of weeks and we could have included a comment about the pool but all I can say was that it looked inviting!

The cottage we stayed in (Casa Marguerita) was comfortable though the beds weren't (since been rectified I believe). The wood-burning stove was required so we had fun colleting kindling when out on our walks.

There is an extensive garden with trees and shrubs. Nightingales, goldfinches and greenfinches sand all day. Crested Larks, Woodchat Shrike, Hawfinch, Sardinian Warbler were all regular visitors as well as Griffon Vultures overhead!

The place is basically at the top of the mountain pass between Malaga and the plain at Antequera - 40 minutes from Malaga Airport and 10 from Antequera. What we loved was the easy access to a lot of nice sites such as Laguna de Fuente de Piedra - a lake (albeit a bit dry this year) with Flamingoes and a whole host of waders and other birds. It's only 30 minutes away. And then there are the reservoirs towards El Chorro gorge - wonderful. And just 'round the corner' about 15 minutes away is a drive up above Villaneuva del Rosario where we had Bonelli's Eagle.

There are hotels nearby catering for motorway traffic. We sampled one of them - never again! We travelled to Ronda (about and hour and a half) and Cordoba (hour and a quarter) whilst we were there. I'd go back to those places, especially the latter and give us more time there.

This place would be ideal for a peaceful family holiday and, using the other cottage, great for groups or a couple of families. We just didn't have enough sun/warmth or enough time so we'll just have to go back again!

Management Response

Hi thanks for your lovely review. We are delighted you had such a lovely time and saw so many birds in and around the area. Glad you enjoyed and appreciated Walnut Fam so much. And Yes we have replaced the mattresses immediately as the comfort of our guests is very important to us. We did not know of the problem prior to or during your stay so the problem is now resolved. Would be great as you say to see you return in the future. Thanks again. Janet and Peter :)
