Very interesting combination of maritime, carpet making and vessel simulator all under the one roof. Staff and presenters very friendly and knowledgeable and really good value for money. Fancy one of their carpets for the front room!

Do not leave killybegs without paying a visit here ! Sorry ladies can’t think of your names but ye were excellent. Watch the short show very informative & interesting, once we saw that we were shown into a mini scaled factory & shown how they wove the carpets they then let you try it , the displayed their work is spectacular. Move onto the simulator & navigate a cargo/ cruiser ship just brilliant.Thoroughly enjoyed our visit & the ladies are a credit to the heritage Centre

My daughter and I visited this museum while staying in Killybegs. The two ladies who were looking after the visitors that day suggested we take the tour in the factory and leave the film which was very sensible as my daughter probably would have got bored otherwise. Irene gave us a personalised tour of the carpet factory and explained the carpet making process of hand knotting to us. It gave us a greater appreciation of how wonderful the carpets produced are.

We went to Ireland to explore my husband’s heritage so when we went we asked our Travel Agent to arrange our trip so we would as a whole skip the usual tourist spots. That is how we found this hidden gem! We met Hazel who explained the mission of the Heritage Center. The Heritage Center is divided into two parts: the history of the Fishing Village and Industry plus the history of carpet making, beautiful hand knotted carpets were made in this location. And the best part is you get to try your hand at knotting a carpet. It is a great little side trip if you are in the area and I would highly recommend it!!
