The house was very roomy, comfortable, well equipped, and the owner was friendly and knowledgable. There were two minor quibbles: Our bedroom had a sloped ceiling just above the sofa, which was quite hazardous as we bumped our heads several times when getting up from the sofa.
I felt a little uncomfortable using the immaculate kitchen as it was equipped with the owner's spotless utensils and the freezer was full of her personal supplies. It didn't feel as if it were really there for guests. There was a small basket on a counter with some tea and coffee supplies that we assumed were for public consumption although even that wasn't clear to us. For the price of the house (over 400 euros a night), I felt she could have been a little more generous with basic food supplies.
Nice house with everything you need to be comfortable and relax after exploring the golden circle and then walk to dinner and the Hot Springs! Enjoyed real coffee instead of instant and the washer dryer! Also loved the two levels so that I could get up super early and take care of some work and not disturb my husband.
I recommend the restaurant Linden within walking distance that was very delicious gourmet! I do not recommend the café next-door which is limited in choices and very bland. Overall a great one night stay in our adventure!
My family of 5 adults stayed at Katrin’s Haholt Cosy House for just one night during our just completed trip to Iceland. The house is beautifully designed and immaculately clean. Katrina had coffee and tea available for us and lots of information regarding both things to do and places to eat in the area. The two bedrooms are roomy and very comfortable, the second floor bathroom is very spacious and there is plenty of sitting space to comfortably hang out in. I would certainly stay there again, though I would stay a couple of nights to be able to explore the area better. The one feature that some people might not find ideal is that the only shower is in the first floor bathroom which is quite small. But I hope that won’t stop you from staying there. Katrin is a caring hostess and the house is both beautiful and conveniently located.
We stayed here and had a really great stay. It is in a very quiet location on the edge of the village. Lovely view of the lake and so convenient to explore all of west/south west Iceland.
Place is fully equipped for self catering.

Our party of Four were offered the Haholt cosy house after our planned location in Laugervatn was not available. We were delighted with our accommodation and Katrin provided a perfect breakfast spread with more choice that we could eat. We shared the two 1st floor rooms, lounge and the very large bathroom. The cosy house is warm, very quiet and absolutely lives up to its name. We will be back and this guest house is highly recommended.
