Great place to stay to rest after visiting the Meteora Monasteries

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 July 2021via mobile
Very nice place to stay when you are visiting the Meteora Monasteries. You are like 10 min away by car. As they all close pretty early (between 4 and 5 PM) you will appreciate the swimming pool to enjoy some resting time after climbing all these steps!
Our family room was huge: a 2 bedrooms appartement with 2 bathrooms (and a spa shower: OMG), a huge balcony to enjoy the view of the Meteora by night (lovely).
Bedding was really good, you had some shutters which is perfect to sleep in the Morning.
Breakfast was diverse, the food was Ok (I won’t say it was the best… it was decent).
Just for you to know when you are at the pool you hear the noise of the road but honestly you forget about it pretty quickly.
Date of stay: June 2021
Room Tip: You need a car to go to the restaurant (you can eat some snack food at the hotel by the pool though)

This hotel was the least favorite of our tour group hotels... but thankfully, we didn't spend much time in our room since our group arrived before dinner and we checked out early morning after breakfast. It's an average hotel with nothing special to distinguish itself. Dinner and breakfast were adequate.

We were only here one night of our trip to Greece and were not even in the room that long...fast paced trip. The room was clean and pretty good sized. The breakfast had a good selection of food. All in all a good choice.

There is a huge lobby and it can be quite a hike to the rooms with some twists and turns. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was fine. There are plenty of seats in the large lobby. It is not close to town.

Pros:

• Rooms on the first floor have doors that open up to a large terrace out back, with a table and two chairs. The terrace is not private, however, as there are tables and chairs in front of every room facing that wing of the hotel.

• There is refrigerator in the room.

• Beautiful pool area with lots of tables, chairs and lounge chairs.

• Phone booths in the lobby, if you are in need if such thing.

• Checking in was quick and very well organized, despite the fact that there were several large groups checking in at the same time.

• Unlike the other Amalia hotels in Olympia and Delphi, guests were not required to leave the key in a slot on the wall in order to have electricity in the room.

Cons:

• The hotel looks quite dated. Drab green carpet. Old, soiled, and worn upholstery

• No iron or ironing board in the room

• No washcloths

• Towels are heavy and not at all plush

• No quiet stay here. You can hear muffled conversations through the walls as well as people moving about.

• The thermostat is difficult to operate. I tried to turn on the heat but all it did was blow less cold air

• Hotel WiFi is weak/slow

• There are only 2 electrical outlets in the entire room. One above the dresser and one in the bathroom

• Bar staff are curt and unfriendly

• Food is not nearly as good as the Amalia hotels in Delphi and Olympia

• Light fixtures in the bathroom buzz loudly, sometimes dramatically increasing in pitch without warning (scared the wits out of me at 5 in the morning)
