That was the perfect place

Review of Koka Roka
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Sept 2015
My friends and me were looking for a hotel which costs less than 90 euro for just one night. We used this GPS locator on the smart phone searching another hotel near Koka roka and than suddenly we saw "Rooms here". That`s the hotel Koka Roka - veeeeery nice family hotel with kind grandma and her son making every wish comming true. She made us the best dinner ever and the breakfast on the other day...mmmmm FANTASTIC!!! Yes, the hotel doesn`t look like 5 stars Hilton but rooms are nice with old furniture and no TV, but what do you need - a roof to keep you, a bed and a bathroom with hot water to take a shower after long day walk to the monasteries. It`s clean, nice, small hotel with WiFi. No one goes to this place to be in the room all day long. You go there for a couple of nights, it doesn`t really matter the furniture :)

Great location right next to the start of a great monk´s path, but that´s about it. I got a very basic room, the furniture on the balcony clearly hadn´t been cleaned in months, the shower courtain was mouldy and the mattress extremely uncomfortable. For 20 Euros or so that might be ok, but this place charges 40 Euros... Changed to another hotel after one night.

Nice restaurant leaded by a very friendly Greece family. Kind atmosphere located in a quite and calm part in the city of Kalambaka. It's close to the hiking Path to the monastery of Agios Stephanos. You can also stay there for the night. Order the homemade ouzo (very Delicious!!)

Finding this little pearl of a guesthouse felt like exactly what we were looking for.
Friendly family-run taverna/ guesthouse in the absolute most beautiful part of Kalampaka. Free from tourist traps, stress and noise. Close to amazing hikingpaths.

See you next time we're in Meteora!

The best located guest house for the views from the room balconies, and at the start of the nice path climbing to the monasteries. Probably slightly overpriced compared to some other places offseason. Quiet, nice neighbourhood.

I ended up staying in this hotel very last minute. I found the owner & his mother very helpful & friendly. The mum cooks a great meal, and the son was quite helpful for sorting out ongoing travel arrangements. The place is quite basic & the beds are very much on the firmer end of the scale, but it was clean & tidy. Good for those on a budget and needing a break from the dorm scene. 10 minute walk to town, right at the foot of the mountains in a lovely spot.
