Dinner on a Sunday night of a public holiday weekend, so Ribe was busy, as was this restaurant. Friendly welcome and quickly seated in the 'second room' on the left as you enter from the street. Plain, but not much atmosphere. Food was much the same it must be said. I had steak bernaise (good steak, crinkly chips and peas from the freezer), and my wife had schnitzel. Both were well enough cooked, and were good portion sizes.
Watch out for the 'luxury beer', as the luxury is that it is 7.2% alcohol, so one was enough for me.
We were in Ribe for only one night, so can not comment on other restaurants, but Backhaus was safe enough.
