A great shop to make your new house in Kathmandu look like home. Open 7 days a week, full of beautiful interior pieces: lamps, crockery, linen, bed covers, copper...check it our. Small parking space at the side.

Dhukuti is one of the best places to shop in Kathmandu. Unlike many other shops (ie, Thamel), all of their goods are actually made in Nepal, not imported from India. The shop offers a wide range of items, including
- metalwork (bookends, teapots, candle holders, trays)
- fabric goods (pillow covers, placemats, napkins, bedding)
- pottery
- scarves and shawls
- felted goods

Dhukuti is fair trade; because they are a fixed-price shop, their prices are usually more reasonable than other places where you need to barter.

Great souvenirs and interesting things- bags, trinkets, paper goods, jewelry, everything you could want. Good quality and reasonable prices. I bought coffee, tea, handmade notepads, brass hooks, computer bag, and coffee mugs.

Dhukuti is four storeys of shopping: paper, metal, Christmas goods, children's things, jewellery, glass ornaments, pashminas and scarves, knitwear, felt, cotton, ceramics..

Like the other two Fair Trade shops nearby,Dhukuti has a treasure trove of products. It is one of my preferred shopping destinations in Kathmandu because I know it is ethical. It is a memebr of the Association of Craft Producers, a member of the International Fair Trade Asociation.

Staff are helpful and friendly and I have been able to shop well on my visits. I recommend Dhukuti to any friends visiting Nepal as a place to shop. Prices are listed on items so you know the price.

Although it is not in Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu, it is not very far to travel, either walking or by taxi. And there are twofair trade shops close by: Sana Hastakala and Mahaguthi.
