If traveling on I-8 going through Yuma this is a must see place in history. The grounds are very well kept and everything is well explained. Plan on spending a couple hours to take in this unik place in history.

together with our friends, we visited this location and found the experience to be very informative and interesting. I would recommend it as a location that should be visited by those who have not yet experienced this.

Learned more about Yuma than I ever knew. I would NEVER want to be a prisoner I
Here. Why you want me to say more? Then I would give away their learning.

Walking through this State Park you can really get a sense of what it must have been like in the late 1800's. Looking out Guard tower you will see the Colorado river meandering through the sagebrush and wildflowers and you can imagine riding through this beautiful harsh countryside. Seeing what conditions the inmates must have lived through is enough to scare you straight. Women were even put in the Dark Cell and when we went through it there were bats in there. If prisons were like this today we would have far less repeat offenders for sure!
