A previous prison tour left me feeling depressed & not wanting to ever visit another former prison. This was on the agenda of my Road Scholar tour, so I had to go along with the group. Happily this was a good experience. We had a great docent & everyone enjoyed our tour very much. The setting is lovely...high on a hill overlooking a park along the Colorado River. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Yuma.

Visited the prison when in Yuma. Very interesting. We found it especially interesting to see that a women had been incarcerated for rape. How does that happen??? After we returned home we watched the movie 3 10 to Yuma. It didn’t really show the prison, but was a fun look at life in that area at the time.

Our tour was fantastic! Our docent was very knowledgable about the history of the prison. The state of Arizona and city of Yuma have done a great job restoring the prison with lots of interesting displays. Definitely worth a stop! There is a small entry fee.

Even if you don't go in check out the area outside the prison for some great history information! Check out all the famous people that spent a lot of years locked up!

The old prison is a must see. The surrounding landscape is near the Colorado river. Real informative tours available.
