We had a great experience a La Paloma. The night walk with the "bug lady" is not to be missed! The staff are all wonderful, pleasant, caring. The food is very good. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the birding guide. I had 2 different birding guides- one was excellent and the other was above average- if you are an avid birder, ask for Carlos. We would definitely go back here!

We absolutely LOVED La Paloma! Our family of 4 (kids 8 and 9) was there for 4 nights and really didn't want to leave. The 2 story rancho gave us all room to spread out and it was really fun to sleep with all the jungle sounds. There is so much wildlife on the property - we saw lots of scarlet macaws, both white faced and howler monkeys, a big lizzard and tons of tiny ones, and more, right on the property. A sloth even hung out in the tree right in front of the restaurant for a whole day that we were there. We did their 3 major tours - Cano Is., mangroves, and Cordcovado (San Pedrillo) - all were great but Corcovado was our favorite. Randall is a great guide! The food was delicious and kid friendly. Chatting with the other guests at dinner was especially fun - even for my husband who usually doesn't like that sort of thing :) And the service was phenominal! Our every need was met (without it ever feeling intrusive as some hotels can seem) - thanks Nicole, Jessica, Tebs and everyone else. We will be back!

LaPaloma is the real rainforest experience. The cabinas are open air- i.e. walls don't go all the way up. But that is part of the charm. We stayed as a family of 5 (3 very active kids) for 6 days/5 nights. The staff is super friendly, organized and accommodating. While there isn't "room service/AC/phones" that is part of the experience. Each day we would get up and do a different activity. We went to Sirena (the second, farther ranger station in Corcovado National Park) for a hike as saw too many items to list. We took the mangrove tour to Sierpe- delightful. We were able to see totally different critters. Finally, we did the a fishing charter and horseback riding. All unique and delightful experiences. My kids brought back fish they caught from the charter, and local river- all were prepared, frozen and stored for us until we left. Again- the level of care the staff took was amazing. We brought our computer/ipad then had a built TV, SKYPE, etc. Most days the kids came back and went straight to sleep anyway. My advice? Just tell Nicole or Jessica (great addition!!) what you need and they will do everything in their power to accommodate.

Room Tip: Room 1 or 3 sit on the bluff with full ocean views.

We really loved it, we went with our two daughters and the personnel was amazing, they lend us lifesavers for the girls and arranged visits to the jungle and to snorkel just for ourselves. The views are incredible! It is our second time at La Paloma Lodge and we hope to visit it many more times.

Room Tip: The ranchos are great

Our five days at LaPaloma Lodge was nothing short of fabulous! I heartily agree with all of the previous rave reviews - the wonderful staff to the gorgeous grounds, delicious meals, beautiful open-air casitas (leaving the doors open to allow the refreshing sea breezes and rainforest sounds in is a must). The snorkeling at Cano Island was wonderful - beautiful fish and sealife. Our excursions to Corcavado as well as the Mangrove tour - each with the excellent guide, Randall - are not to be missed. The monkeys, birds, crocs, snakes, and more were abundant and active for our pleasure. We wished we had a couple of days more to enjoy this superb resort.
