I do not recommend this hotel. The room reeked of old cigarette smoke and the bathroom smelled absolutely horrible. There were stains on the carpet and I wore my shoes in the room because I didn't want my bare feet on the ground. I checked for bed bugs and thankfully didn't see signs of any.

This is by far the worst La Quinta I have ever stayed at. All the rooms open to outdoors. Near the airport. I've machine on 1st floor has been removed. Room is small with stained carpeting. Bed was comfy. There were a bunch of young girls there on some kind of team. Running around screaming. A call to the front desk did get them quieted down. I paid over $200 for a room that was worth $90 at best. Maid was walking around smoking outdoors and put her here stinky cigarette into the parking lot. Ewww. Needs extensive remodel.

Had plumbing issues that were not addressed at the time we told the staff about them because the maintenance personnel had not arrived. We could not use the bathroom (at 5:30 a.m.) and were not offered another room.

The La Quinta chain offers much to travelers with pets (usually if not always welcome and free) and to many of us with a budget. However, consistency is not a strong suit for La Quinta. As an Elite Rewards member, I have stayed at some that rival Four Seasons in luxury (e.g. Twin Falls, Idaho) and others (e.g., Bloomington, Ilinois) that were, at the time I stayed, shabby and candidates for closure. Most are good, safe, and clean and offer value.

Regrettably, our stay last week at the PHX airport La Quinta was almost a disaster. We were returning from a week-long trip to Arizona and had an early morning departure from the airport. Thus, we turned our car in the night before and decided to rely on a shuttle from La Quinta to the airport departure lounge at 5:30 a.m. When checking in, we made this shuttle reservation. At that time, only one person was on duty, a young lady new to her job, but friendly and seemingly competent.

Our room was on the outside of the motel, facing the parking lot, which offered an unpleasant view of scattered litter and an acre of blacktop. The room was old but clean. However, the safety lock bolt on the door was broken. The chain did work but was not very secure and would likely succumb to a strong shoulder of an intruder. But, we figured one night, OK.

The television worked fine, important given this was Super Bowl night Later, around midnight, there was a fair amount of loud talking in the parking lot, not conducive for a good night's sleep.

Our wake up call came at 4:45 as requested. However, when we arrived at the lobby at 5:15 a.m., there was no driver for the van. Another guest had been waiting since 5:00, and he needed to catch a flight to New York for a connection to Israel. The desk clerk was all alone and said the driver did not show up for work and he could not reach her.

Moreover, the desk clerk needed to prepare what was obviously a very spartan breakfast bar in the lobby for 6:00 a.m. He was naturally frantic, but finally was successful in obtaining a taxi to come to the hotel by about 5:45. We made our flight, But, this was a trying, rather nervous time for those of us needing to catch flights. It was astonishing that La Quinta had only one employee on duty and no back up plan. Never again for my wife and I as far as this La Quinta is concerned.

Room Tip: Choose an inside room away from the parking lot.

We were picked up from the airport so we didn't have a car. So it was very nice to have a Denny's restaurant right next door. Breakfast was good and the transportation to and from the airport was great. The beds were also very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
