I visited Sedona a year ago and stayed at the Southwest Inn (see previous review). This time, I brought my family and we stayed for 4 nights. You know how sometimes you remember something either better or worst than it actually is? The Southwest Inn is a great place to stay. It is priced well - and we were upgraded to suites which was extra nice. The Inn is located right where you'll be hiking - most of the trails start somewhere off of Dry Creek Road. The Inn is close enough you can walk there (if you're a seasoned hiker) or it is a very short drive to the trails. If you stay in town - it is not as convenient to the hikes. Plus - parking is easy, in and out of the parking lot is easy and the rooms are large, comfortable - and the inn is right on the edge of a vortex. Take that with whatever you think but it gives a calm feeling to the location. Also, guests can use the breakfast room (+ microwave) anytime the office is open (until 9pm) - paper plates and utensils included. When you eat out all the time, there are left-overs and it's nice to be able to reheat. The rooms have powerstrips (yea!) for all of our phones/PDAs/computers, free wifi, refrigerators and the front desk is very helpful on hikes, restaurants, etc. So - highly recommended the 2nd time around!
