I planned a romantic weekend getaway for me and my husband last weekend and the Penrose did not disappoint. We’ve stayed in Sedona multiple times at a wide range of hotels, and this was one of my favorites. I had originally also booked another place that seemed decent and was less expensive, but as the trip got closer, I decided to “go for it” with the Penrose, feeling confident after reading all of the positive reviews.

We had no problem finding the Penrose tucked up in the red rocks and were greeted by one of the owners who gave us a lay of the land tour when we first got there. We stayed in the Javelina which has a balcony overlooking the morning breakfast patio. I loved that they are brave enough to have white linens, and smart enough to offer orange/pink towels for cleaning up red dirt after hiking. I would suggest that they add a little foot washing station outside by the entrance to help keep things even cleaner. We brought one of the pink towels with us and wiped down our shoes as best as we could each day, but a quick rinse or even some paper bags to throw shoes in would be helpful.

Our breakfast the first morning was the famous poached pear and French toast with sausage. It would be nice if they made it clear that we could request something simple like eggs and toast instead (as one guest did), but it was also nice to have an excuse to splurge. We really appreciated that they have a well-stocked fridge. It made getting out on the trails in the morning a lot quicker, and it was so nice not to have to stop on the way back for something refreshing.

The morning we left, we had a fruit smoothie, which was a little chilly in the shade, and a breakfast burrito that filled us up for the day. We did a quick hike suggested by Tom (Baldwin Loop) and made it back in time to clean up before checking out. On our way out, we got shirts, a snack (some of the leftover lemon bars that they leave out in the evening), and some suggestions for our route back to Phoneix.

I have enjoyed always staying somewhere different when visiting Sedona, but I can definitely see staying here again, especially now that I’ve seen some of the package deals available certain times of year when booking directly.

The Penrose B&B MADE our Sedona trip, and that is not an exaggeration. In a town where the majority of the hotels are along the main strip, this inn was nestled quietly into the red rocks with the most amazing views. It was so peaceful, super clean and well maintained and the hospitality was spectacular. The owners greeted us upon arrival and were very informative of the inn and the area. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and so enjoyable. Our server, Tom, was very entertaining and gave us daily tips on activities. The food was delicious and not your run on the mill continental breakfast- it was gourmet and different every day.

I cannot recommend this place enough for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Sedona- what a gem!!

We stopped at Penrose B&B on our way driving out to San Francisco - only regret is that we didn't have more time! The Penrose was a perfect location for us, far enough outside Sedona to get away from tourist crowds, while still being close to other restaurants in Village of Oak Creek. The property itself is magical, with simply breathtaking views. Don't miss the stars at night either, very special and something you will never see in a city. Our room (Coconina I believe) was great, felt extremely clean and taken care of. I also loved the homemade pralines on our pillow when we checked in. Lots of cute personal touches like this showed how much love goes into day to day operations. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, the property has a big deck where guests can eat while taking in all the views.

Thank you to Whitney, Tom, and all the staff for such a great stay!

This photo of The Penrose B&B is what you see from their patio and the bedrooms! The B&B is a beautiful home, perfectly situated to give you peace and quiet off the main drag and views that take your breath away. Our room was lovely, with a queen bed, double-size jacuzzi tub as well as a glass shower. Everything we needed was waiting for us! Our breakfasts were scrumptious and catered to our gluten-free diet. Margie, the cook, outdid herself, giving us a great start to our day. You even get to pick out a T-shirt to memorialize your stay! Great place, only minutes from Sedona.

Room Tip: Second floor, all rooms overlook breathtaking scenery.
