This is my first time staying at the Marriott McDowell in Scottsdale - went for a golf tournament. It's a beautiful hotel and the staff is most helpful and courteous. Since the golf tournament ran long, they extended our checkout time to 2:00 pm at no extra charge.

One caution - the Marriott is located close to the Scottsdale airport which gets a lot of use from small corporate jets. If airplane noise bothers you, make sure you get a room on the northside of the hotel.

I was here for a conference, so alas did not experience some of the amenities I might have had I had more free time, but here are the highlights and lowlights:
- The suites are lovely - very spacious with two decent-sized rooms, two flatscreen televisions, a small refrigerator, two sinks in the bath, bathrobes, and a great, comfortable bed.
-- No minibar. Some people care about these things.
-- $13 dollars for internet. And I couldn't use multiple devices at that price
-- Rooms, corridors and public spaces clean and beautiful.
-- I ate only the conference food, but it was great quality for food serve in mass
-- Conference rooms were air conditioned to the point most attendees needed to bring wraps and jackets. Truly. In one, my fingers were numb after an hour.
-- Patio great for drinks, and they were quick to refill the patio heater when it went out
All in all, this property holds a lot of people but still feels comfortable and intimate. If you're stuck in a conference room, remember a sweater!

Room Tip: We were in the South wing -- I don't have any basis for comparison, but the suites are lovely there.

We stayed here again this past February and can report that the quality you;d expect from Marriott is still here: efficient check-in, complimentary breakfast for Elite members ($20 value - cooked to order omelettes, waffles, meats, breads, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, etc.), free parking and a two-room suite. Bath amenities are Bath/Body Works Ginger Orange scent; both USAToday and Wall Street Journal papers are complimentary at the front desk. West-facing rooms have a great sunset view - ask for one with a balcony upgrade. Only a few private planes from the nearby Scottsdale airpark were heard overhead - nothing affect our stay. The hotel itself is in a mixed-use residential and office park area, but with a car you have ready access in 5-10 minutes to great shopping and restaurants.

Spent four nights here with my wife and five-year-old daughter and everything went perfectly. Staff treated us splendidly, and even sent food up to our room after we had a short wait for our room to be cleaned upon arrival.

This Marriott is pretty far north in the Phoenix area, but close to good amenities, such as Kierland commons and the new Salt River baseball fields. Staff was very good - especially the pool staff and pool bar servers. Pool is a little small, but the view of the golf course is spectacular!
